Lucy Opus and The Dirty 9s
I first saw The Dirty 9s a few weeks ago in Greystones Theatre. The band was playing support so I hadn’t planned on paying much attention. However, I didn’t have a choice. As soon as I heard the voice of lead singer, I was gripped. Their debut single Lucy Opus is released today, on Friday 13th, lucky for us. It’s taken from their debut album Stop Screaming, Start Dreaming, produced by Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals).
Named after the less than flattering nickname given to their local bus service, the 39 (“where even breathing upstairs on it can get you stoned!”), the Dublin five piece first came to the public’s attention when they won the €10,000 grand prize on Deis Roc, a music competition for unsigned bands which aired on TG4 . They used the money to record their debut album Stop Screaming, Start Dreaming which will be released in early 2010. I, for one, am looking forward to it.
Lucy Opus is available now on iTunes & downloadmusic.ie. For more info on the band, have a look at their MySpace Page, YouTube Channel or just say hello to them on Twitter.
Dirty 9’s are very good band! Nice guys too to top it off! Gave my band copies of their album when we played with them in July!
On that night, they too were better than the main act that they were supporting!
Like the song and the sound..
@Paddy I’m so annoyed I missed the start of their set in Greystones. They’re going to be huge.
@Keleher I’m looking forward to getting the album.
