Firstly…WANTSIES:
It’s available from the BigBadToyStore.com from September and if anyone wants to buy it for me, I would not object.
- In sad news, the man who has voiced Mickey Mouse for the past 32 years, Wayne Allwine has passed away aged 62. Allwine took over the reigns from Jimmy McDonald in 1977, while Jimmy took over from Disney himself in 1947.
- It’s full steam ahead for Ghostbusters 3. Dan Aykroyd confirmed that the sequel will be ready to film this Winter, with all the original cast signed on to return, including Sigourney Weaver. There’s also talk of Eliza Dushku joining the gang. (read Dr. Manfattan’s article here)
- Now finished with Drag Me To Hell, Sam Raimi is ready to return to directing Tobey Maguire in Spiderman 4. The script should be completed in the next four weeks apparently.
- The comic-book legend Stan Lee’s story, Nick Ratchet, is a mystery-thriller about a meek police officer transformed Jekyll and Hyde-style into a tough cop who emerges from a video game to assume control of his creator. A script is in the works and there’s talk aplenty about who will talk the lead roll. I’m sure Zac Efron will be mentioned - he is for everything else at the moment.
- Sophia Coppola has added to her cast for new movie, Somewhere. Jackass’s Chris Pontias joins her suburban comedy drama. It’s looking less ad less like she will ever reach the heights of Lost in Translation again.
- Now that Zach Braff is (or isn’t) leaving Scrubs, he has more time to dedicate to films. His next will be with Cameron Diaz - he will both write and star in the comedy Swingles.
- George Orwell’s Homage to Catalonia, about his experiences in the Spanish Civil War, will be brought to the big screen with Colin Firth and Kevin Spacey. *Cough* Oscars *cough*.
- Empire’s incredible 20th Anniversary edition features some wonderful photographs including this one of Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins. All the photos from the shoot are currently on display in the Century Club in London’s West End. Anyone fancy a trip across to London?
- Ben Stiller is still talking about doing a Zoolander sequel. Confession #1: I’ve never seent he original, though many of my friends say it’s a classic. Maybe I’ll wait for Stiller to make his follow up before I bother with the first.
- Confession #2: I actually like Michael Moore. I never jumped on the Michael Moore hating bandwagon and thought Fahrenheit 911 was a very important piece of filmmaking (though flawed). He has a new doc in development at present centring on the root causes of the global economic meltdown and take a comical look at the corporate and political shenanigans that culminated in what Moore has described as “the biggest robbery in the history of this country” - the massive transfer of U.S. taxpayer money to private financial institutions.
Trailerific:
Ben Stiller is evil. Evil and unfunny. A very annoying combination.
‘Evil’ implies interesting. I don’t find him at all interesting.
