Alice in Wonderland teaser trailer

After seeing Darragh’s preview pics of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland adaptation a few weeks ago, I have been dying to see the movie itself. As, I am sure, have a lot of Burton fans.

And today (after a false start yesterday when it was accidentally released a little early and then removed at the request of Disney), we have the teaser trailer to drool over! Yay!

I have March 2010 marked in my calendar already!

If you find that version too slow, there is a faster and better quality version here. I just couldn’t embed it 🙂

Played the video but stopped soon into it, on the other link, video had trouble starting up, but it looks very interesting. Mia Wasikowska should be very good, Alan Rickman as the Cheshire Cat too, some of the other characters/actors look quite strange but I guess that is Tim Burton’s take.

It’s Burton by numbers crap. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is one of my favourite books. Why the hell does it look like the Mad Hatter is the main character? In any sane adaptation he should be in it for at most 10 minutes.

We also have the Red Queen, the Jaberwocky, Tweedledum and Tweedledee in there… none of whom are in the book.

Seamus - sorry the links didn’t work for you, they are working fine here for me, if very slowly (the embedded one you ned to leave stream for a bit)
I think it looks very interesting too, I’ll certainly enjoy being whisked off to Wonderland when it comes to the big screen-proper cinema magic!

@Monkeyfudge you’re right in that everyone always knows what to expect from Burton and although Depp & Bonham Carter are wonderful, the fact that they turn up in almost everything he does seems a bit strange to me, surely there are more than two talented actors in the world? I shall reserve my judgement on the film itself til I see it though, I love this sort of thing 🙂

Ok, obviously I’m very excited about seeing this and I love both Burton and Depp, but…the Mad Hatter is not the main character, nor should he be.

Alice in Wonderland is one of my favourite books - I’ve always loved the cartoon adaptation and I am just hoping this lives up to my very high expectations.

Looks fantastic. I have no concerns about who they make as the mad hatter - this is an interpretation of the book - not the book itself. This is the way with films - they are a different version a different version of the story. I generally dont liek the idea films should be a like-for-like match for the source material. They shouldnt have to be.
Think of Bond, Apocalypse Now, Bladerunner, Dracula, Jaws, Jurrasic Park etc. All based on books but not the same as the book - some very differnet, some didnt quite work out so well.
So lets wait and see how Burton goes about it. I personally love the idea of taking an established story and re-imagining it. For example I cant wait to see Nottingham - the Robin Hood story re-imagined from the Sherrifs point of view (being the good guy)

  6. Niall says:

As my favourite childhood book is not actually the primary story for the movie, this seeing Alice return to Wonderland some years later, I know those precious memories of the novel and Disney film will be unaffected.

I completely enjoyed the trailer. Depp as the Mad Hatter looks across great. Especially the line “You’re terribly late. Naughty.”
