Here be dragons…
To prove that I’m not just obsessed with Disney, and simultaneously prove that I am in fact a huge child, here is the poster for Dreamworks next 3D computer-animated movie experience, How to Train Your Dragon.
The movie is set in a mythical world featuring Vikings and dragons (so far so good!) and focuses on Hiccup, a teen who lives on the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. The teens cleverness and wacky sense of humour is frowned upon by his tribe, but most of all by Hiccup’s father (who just so happens to be the tribe leader). When Hiccup is selected for Dragon Training, he sees his chance to prove he has what it takes to be a fighter. But when he meets an injured dragon, his world is turned completely upside down.
How to Train Your Dragon is co-directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders. These two are responsible for giving us Disney’s Lilo & Stitch before they “defected” to DreamWorks. A strong voice cast features Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Craig Ferguson, Kristen Wiig and America Ferrera. The movie will be out in Ireland March 31st, 2010.
I’ve been asking for a Dragon of my very own for Yeeeeeeeears. Never got one tho. Mum says it’ll scorch the furniture. sniff.
That’s looks awesome! Can’t wait to see it! ?
Lilo & Stitch, in fairness, for what it was was brilliant. Great soundtrack.
Looking forward to this one. Big dragon fan. Even liked Reign of Fire!
@darragh I was on the set! put my head in the mouth on the reign of fire dragon head ?
*mad jealous but not surprised at all!*
Wow, never heard of this till now. Am a huge dragon fan myself (Dragonslayer is my dragon movie of choice) so will look forward to this. And then there’s Guillermo Del Toro’s/Peter Jackson’s realization of Smaug…;)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has a good bit with a dragon, hope it makes the cut in Part I of the Deathly Hallows films. High hopes for The Hobbit too. Both series of films are about the battle of good versus evil, that is what makes them special to me. Not sure if I’ll see this film on the big screen.
