Culch.ie CallingCards – Gigs – December 27 2010 -2 January 2011

Given that this is a week of family and parties rather than gigs proper, its a quiet week for announcements.

Fight Like Apes will be hotwiring the Transit and running the gaunlet of fascist, jobsworth traffic wardens to bring their finest racket and best evening wear to the good people of Ireland on their “Get A Rip On This Yiz Geebags” tour. The band’s second album – ‘The Body Of Christ And The Legs Of Tina Turner’ is out now and banned in some locations. The final date is Sunday 27 December in Mullingar Stables

Dublin’s Fox Avenue play a post Christmas gig at The Academy on Monday 27 December. There aren’t many new bands that can match Fox Avenue for impact. After just over a year together, the Dublin three-piece have worked their way from bars to arenas, worked with top producers and built an army of loyal fans. Patrick Rhatigan (vocals/piano), Dara Quilty (vocals/guitar) and Sean Maxx (drums) formed the band in mid 2009. They immediately set about building a fan base through social network sites, using Twitter, Facebook and MySpace; the band became an underground online success. This is an all ages show. Under 15s must be accompanied by parent/guardian. No alcohol served.

R.S.A.G. (aka Rarely Seen Above Ground, aka Jeremy Hickey ) is hosting a New Year’s party The Workman’s Club, Dublin. He will be joined by the Holy Roman Army and Cloud Castle Lake with the The Kilo 1977 spinning tunes in between. R.S.A.G. fans are in for a treat as he will follow his own set with the R.S.A.G. Sound System with The Kilo 1977 providing visual delights and DJing along with Hickey drumming live. Upstairs there will be funk and beats with DJ Brian Harrington (Soul Riot) with guests.
