5Setanta Ireland to Broadcast U2 at Glastonbury - Live
Something interesting hit my inbox this morning - Music fans can see U2 headline Glatonbury without having to leave the sofa!
Here’s the info from the good folk at Setanta Sports, but I think this is a great idea:
Setanta Ireland have confirmed that they will be showing U2’s first ever headline performance live from Glastonbury on June 24th. Its U2’s first performance at Worthy Farm in Somerset and the band are keen to ensure that viewers in Ireland were able to view this unique event. Brian Quinn, Setanta Ireland’s Marketing Director, commented ‘We are delighted to bring this live event to an Irish audience. To ensure the widest possible availability we will broadcast on a free-to-air basis from 22:00 to 24:00. This means that all viewers on the SKY service can tune in to Channel 423 and watch the broadcast for free. All UPC TV customers can watch for free on channel 105 and Eircom broadband customers can also view the performance for free. This means over 1.3 million Irish homes will have live access to the event.’
Heard this on the radio this morning, great move by Setanta!
It’s a very good move indeed!
There are many reasons I’m glad I don’t get Setanta Sports any more, but this one is certainly right up there.
Really? Thought it was a fairly cool idea!
*set to tape* Cheers for letting us know.
