Fidil explore the soundscape of their native Donegal, and through their unconventional approach to accompaniment, arriving at a place where tradition meets innovation, giving the group their unmistakable sound. Their music-making is marked by an intricate and intelligent approach that still manages to maintain the element of fiery exuberance that is the hallmark of fiddle music from Donegal.
This is traditional music for the 21st century, mindful of its origins but breathtakingly exciting in its ambition and delivery. The trio have quickly established themselves as stars in the ascendant, scooping up the Music Network’s Young Musicwide Award in 2008, they have been busy playing concerts on home ground, and internationally in Macedonia, Iceland, Italy, Chicago, Nova Scotia and beyond.
