0Christmas FM is back for 2013
First off… before you say it (you were going to, weren’t you?)… yes, I do realise that my last (and only one of TWO so far!) post here on Culch was about Christmas FM 2012 almost a year ago, but I hereby solemnly swear and promise – in a sort of “early New Year’s resolution” type way – to post far more often in the future.Anyway – with that said… once again, the time of year has rolled around where many of us think of stuffing the turkey (careful now!), roasting their spuds (ah here!), heating up the sausage meat (quiet you, down the back!), pulling a cracker (just stop!), covering the pudding in cream (er…), gifts, trees, snow and jolly fat men dressed in red…
Yes!.. it’s the month before Christmas and all through the house… in fact, all through the LAND, the charity radio station Christmas FM has bounded back onto the airwaves, covering yet more of the country this year than ever before!
The station, which returns home to the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin 4, is raising money for depression & suicide charity Aware this year and it can be heard on FM in most populated areas of the country as well as online via the web site & their new (for 2013) smartphone apps.
This year, it’s sponsored by Vodafone, Centra and the Irish Daily Mail and will feature over 60 radio stars including Keith Shanley, Garvan Rigby, Enda Caldwell, Gerry Wilson, and yes … little old me – I’m back with The Saturday Night Christmas Party (where I once again get to play all the up-beat stuff!).
You can send messages and dedications to the station via the web site (if you’re outside Ireland) or by texting the word “XMAS” followed by a space and your message to 50300 (if inside Ireland). Texts cost the princely sum of €2, but the station say that 100% of the proceeds go to the charity this year.
