  1. Annie says:

I want to goooooooooooo! *such* a good line up.

I have tickets for Oxegen already but I want to go to this too. Why can’t I be rich, whhhhhhhy?

  2. Darragh says:

I still haven’t made up my mind on this. I’ve never been but don’t see how it could be worth the money. I’m open to persuasion though….

  3. Lottie says:

The tickets are pricey and it means a lot sacrifice so I don’t know. I much prefer the Oxygen Line up and since I’ve been to Oxygen before I know what to expect.

    But still:
    Basement Jaxx
    BellX1
    Damien Dempsey
    Dublin Gospel Choir
    Echo & The Bunnymen
    Flaming Lips
    Fleet Foxes
    Imelda May
    Lisa Hannigan
    Lykke Li
    Madness
    MGMT
    Seasick Steve

  4. Darragh says:

It’s bad that in your list of 14, I’ve only heard of 10 and heard the music of 7, isn’t it? See, that’s what I mean for me anyway.

  5. Lottie says:

@Darragh – But that’s the beauty of it. A chance to discover new music and tastes. it’s why I love The Choice Awards so much. The years I have went I have come away with new “favorites” that I had never before heard of.

I’m going to make you a mixed tape. It won’t be the same as seeing them live, but you’ll get the gist.

  6. Darragh says:

    Nice one, Lottie, thanks!

But seeing someone live in Vicar Street is a lot different to standing in a muddy field being jostled by drunks, by inconsiderate people who *have* to get to the other side of the field right past you to get mobile reception, to people who just don’t see you or don’t care about the music. The loads of outside gigs I’ve been to have always left me wishing I’d seen the gig in a smaller venue.

Happy to trust you on this though. Road trip maybe?

  7. Lottie says:

@Darragh – There’s always that risk. And I am little more than a festival virgin if you will remember, Oxygen last year being my first one. I think we were very lucky last year with the weather, the company and the line up – it is a near perfect memory for me and I am willing to take the risk this year.

If it’s shit, there’s always the car to go home.

  8. Kitty Cat says:

Wheee! I’m SO excited about this, Madness, Basement Jaxx, Flaming Lips and The Sugarhill Gang it’s going to be AWESOME-O. Darragh, it’s so very worth the €240, there’s so much other stuff going on as well as the music and everyone there is just a big bag of deadly. GO!

  9. Rick says:

    Darragh, you sound like you’re 150 ?

Lottie, you’re worse. Are you goingg to make me a “mixed tape” too? ;-)))))

I’ve never been. This might be the year.

    And Oxegen too.

  10. Darragh says:

Rick, I *am* 150. And that’s still 90 less than the price of the ticket, which I still think is madness. Not the band, just the extortion.

We don’t all have contacts, you know ?

I just don’t like crowds. People change when they’re in them.

  11. Lottie says:

@Rick – No. Not for you. Everyone gets on but you. Smarty pants!

  12. Voodoolady says:

EP is class. I’ve been twice. WAAYYY better than Oxegen whatever the line up. Last year I barely left the body and soul area/bollywood bar to go see anything.

  13. peter says:

got my disco pants on already.

    thinks of Jerry Maguire….

    ‘who’s comin’ with me…..’

  14. Toots says:

Aye, EP is just a COMPLETELY different festival experience to Oxegen. It’s just different in every way. The crowd is that little bit older, and, dare I say it, more into music than Oxegen crowds (a lot of whom are teenagers who go for the experience of getting wasted, climbing on their mates’ shoulders and puking on peoples’ shoes).

There’s just an overall better vibe at EP, like everyone really WANTS to be there and is in a good mood all the time. The food is better, the campsites are better, heck, even the security is better (they actually say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’.) And I don’t think anyone saying ‘But there’s more than the music’ does the Body & Soul area justice… unless you’re walking around it at midnight yourself, taking things in, seeing everywhere lit up by torches and fairy lights and everyone feeling that positive buzz… it’s the best weekend of the summer.

It’s just better, despite the Ox line up being stronger. Oxegen was great last year, but EP won hands-down as the ‘experience’.

    My elongated two cents ?

  15. Anthony McG says:

Never been but bought my ticket this morning.

  16. Darren Byrne says:

@Anto Excellent! So, are you completely tapped out now? Does that mean I’m buying lunch?

  17. Anthony McG says:

Yes, I am of the broke variety now. I’ll have bread and water for lunch please. ?

  18. Lottie says:

@Toots – that’s the general consensus that EP is an over all better experience. We’ll see what the boss man says.

@Anto – Are you saying you have other friends who you socialise with? What did we do?

  19. Peter says:

    i know anto….. ?

  20. Anthony McG says:

    @Peter: They all will ?

  21. Bngr says:

    Everyone knows Anto.

I’m there. Some people go to festivals for music alone, I go for the festival part. Hence, I’m looking forward to the different atmosphere. I know it won’t be as good as Womad but should be better than Oxygen.
