It seems like Mr. T’s immortal boots are set to be filled as UFC fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has been cast as Sgt. Bosco “B.A.” Baracus in the forthcoming remake of the classic 80’s series The A-Team.
It would appear that acting talent was not high on must-have lists for director Joe Carnahan (Smokin’Aces) and producers Tony and Ridley Scott. The casting should however allow for some exceptional fight scenes and so long as B.A.’s wardrobe and non-sequiturs remain intact you’ll hear no complaints from me.
The A-Team has so far cast three of the four main characters from the original series: Quinton Jackson as Sgt. Bosco “B.A.” Baracus (originally played by Mr. T), Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck (Dirk Benedict) and Liam Neeson as Col. John “Hannibal” Smith (George Peppard). Only one remains with the role of Cpt. H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdock yet to be cast. What do you think of the casting and who would you like to see fill Dwight Schultz’s role as Murdock?
I’d go for Jim Carey as Murdock but then maybe he’d be too big for the movie.
Wow, did not know about this, am a huge A-Team fan, is this a film versus a series ? Liam Neeson as ‘Hannibal’ Smith is great, Jim Carey would work well as ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock, trying to think of other actors that might work, nothing yet..
I’m kinda feeling Sam Rockwell for Murdock. As long as it is not Johnny Knoxville.
Jim Carrey is too obvious a choice.
Josh Hartnet played a stormer in Lucky Number Slevin. The right mix of comedy with drama.
Will Arnett who played Gob in Arrested Development would be good too.
Niall - good call on Sam Rockwell! I’d agree. Though I think Carrey would be excellent too.
Am I the only one thinking Liam Neeson a strange choice to play Hannibal?
Bradley Cooper as Face is perfect. I think Jim Carrey or Sam Rockwell would do Murdoch justice too, but as you’ve said you won’t want it to be the next JIM CARREY movie which it would be if he was in it.
Blackfilms is reporting that District 9 star Sharlto Copley has been approached to fill the role of Murdock.
I haven’t seen District 9 yet so I can’t comment either way on this.
