Celebrity Polaroid Portraits

Inspired by a missed opportunity to photograph Gwyneth Paltrow, this budding paparazzi carries a polaroid camera with him absolutely everywhere and over the last 6 years has managed to capture 100′s of celebrity polaroid portraits – portroids. Calling him a paparazzi is probably a bit harsh, especially considering he actually asks the celebs if it’s okay to take their photo and usually gets them to sign it too, this approach seems to have worked really well for him so far.

I love polaroids and I love this part art, part stalker project. There’s quite a few cult favourites in the galleries – David Lynch, Eugene Levy, Janeane Garofalo, Zooey Deschayummy, Zach Braff, – a bizarre collection of Disneyland characters (Colonial Goofy anyone?), and some really well know faces too – Barack Obama , Charlize Theron, Julia Roberts, Will Smith, and of course, plenty of obscure American ones too.

My favourite? Brian Posehn, because he’s totally underrated and completely awesome - as you can see.

Brilliant. I’m totally stealing this idea. I pass Mary Coughlan on the street on almos a daily basis.

    I know, celebrity fail.

I’m *definitely* stealing this idea too. We should dedicate a page on Culch to our “celebrity” polaroids. ;)

Love the play on words - Portroids. Last “celeb” I saw was a guy who was on one of the RTE reality programmes (the one with the ship?) - he was in a Spar looking to buy a “Kiss me I’m Irish tie”. - not really a celebrity but a .. is there a name for someone who had their 15 minutes of fame?
