What culture?

Writing for Culch.ie should be interesting.

Why?

Well, for a start, I have never been to the movies or even seen a movie.

I have been to the cinema a lot and have seen thousands of films, but that’s a different story.

Nowadays, I don’t go to the cinema much, if at all. I tend to see films as they come out on television which means I am about ten years behind everyone else, but who’s counting?

Pop music is another matter.

We all know that pop music hit its peak in the seventies, did quite well in the eighties but died the death after that.

So why am I here?

I don’t know?

I was asked to join in and add my tuppenceworth, and who am I to argue? I pointed out that I knew feck all about modern culture but they said it didn’t matter.

So I may pop in from time to time and review the latest release by the Beatles or whoever. I might pass a comment on the latest sighting of Brittney’s knickers.

I may, in time reveal all that went on during that passionate weekend with Sandra Bullock, that The Sun has been hounding me about.

We shall see……

I think it’s good to have opinions from every walk of life, including opinions from the elderly, decrepit, cantankerous, out of touch, batty…I could go on.

Seriously though, I haven’t a clue what pop culture is. I love movies films - I write about films. Simple as that.

I agree, but where are we going to find someone like that?

  3. Grandad says:

So you are the bearded old fart everyone complains about?

Ah Grandad, you’re only messin’ - you know as much about populat culture as anyone else :) When you think about it, you ARE part of popular culture with a book of your own and a large following on your blog .

Re: movies - I don’t and never have called them movies - always films for me - you can see that in my bio on the site here.

Looking forward to reading your cultured opinions.

Grandad, I am honoured to take up such a position…

    Less of the old.

What have I let myself in for? *groan*

You’ve let yourself in for Herself suggesting a few more movie trips. For complaining about what you see on the TV and on rentals and what you read and listen to.

In short, don’t vent, inform us why we’re wrong. How we can do better. And of course good places to hide the bodies.
