Look, I lead a busy life, ok! I am sorry I missed yesterday’s movie news. On the bright side, that means today’s news is chock-a-block with interesting tidbits:

  • Kevin Smith strikes back with his one man show, An Evening with Kevin Smith, in New York’s Carnegie Hall on June 17th. Can someone please go buy me tickets? And maybe some plane tickets to New York too please? Oh, and if you could stretch to a hotel, that’d be great. If you haven’t seen any of Smith’s solo shows, go buy the DVDs now or check out some clips on YouTube:

  • And in now, near daily, new of the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, it seems Sarah Connor’s Thomas Dekker is in talks to join the cast. Well, seeing as his show The Sarah Connors Cronicles has just been cancelled (sorry Lottie - I mean, not yet been picked up for another season), he’ll need to find work somewhere.
  • Sweeter than sweet, Reese Witherspoon is taking on a new role in Nice the story of a writer who accidentally kills her boyfriend and finds it’s easier to get away with murder than to get through a break-up, solving all her dating problems. She gets involved with an ex-KGB assassin who’s witnessed her criminal behaviour and becomes fascinated with her.

  • Sofia Coppola is returning with Somewhere, a comedy drama will star Stephen Dorff as a bad boy actor wandering who gets a surprise visit from his 11-year-old daughter, played by Dakota’s sister Elle Fanning.
  • BrunoI saw a trailer for Bruno a few days ago and much as it pains me to say this, it looked damn funny.
  • There’s a sequel to last years actioner Wanted in the works again based on the comic series created by Mark Millar. No word on who will return cast-wise.
  • Maggie Gyllenhaal has signed on to join the cast of Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang, the sequel to 2005′s nanny film. She joins Rhys Ifans, Maggie Smith and returning star and writer Emma Thompson.
