Today, Saturday, the 18th of April, is Record Store Day. It’s a global initiative in its second year which aims to promote and celebrate the role that independent record stores play in the bigger musical picture.
Record Store Day brings together a whole host of independently owned record stores with a bunch of musical artists and record buyers to celebrate all that is good about the art of music.
In Dublin, Tower Records and Road Records will be having special live performances and offers. Other participating stores include Freebird Records and Beatfinder Records as well as a host of stores nationwide. Artists performing and participating include Jape, Neil Hannon, Mundy and Lisa Hannigan. And that’s just for starters. More details on times and locations for performances here.
City Discs will have cake and Road Records will be giving away a Dinosaur Jr. skateboard, must be good so.
So get along to your local record store and show your support. You know it makes sense.
