Firstly, come join us next Thursday in Cineworld to see Jason Statham’s latest actioner, Crank 2: High Voltage. Sure, it’ll be a larf.
Robert Rodriguez is revisiting the Grindhouse. He is making a movie out of the fake trailer Machete. Danny Trejo will reprise his role in what will undoubtedly be a gore fest.
- Rodriguez has also announced that he will be resurrecting the Predator franchise. He is going to make a prequel to the first Schwarzenegger movie called Predators. In Rodriguez’ hands, I’d be confident that we’ll get a great movie.
- But before all of that, Mr Rodriguez will be bringing out Neverackers, a futuristic thriller where a utopian society is disrupted by rebellion and a special team is formed to handle the crime wave. He’s a busy man.
- Denzel Washington is reteaming with Tony Scott again (and The Taking of Pelham 123 hasn’t even been released yet) for Unstoppable. The plot sounds like Under Siege 2, but apparently it’s based on a true story. I was never a fan of Denzel, but after seeing him in Tony Scott’s Deja Vu my opinion has begun to change.
- The first time I saw Joseph Gordon Levitt was in Roseanne in the early 90′s, before 3rd Rock From the Sun. Even as a kid he clearly had talent, so it’s great to see him finally getting some decent roles. I’ve already mentioned he will be starring in Zooey Deschanel’s 500 Days of Summer and GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra, but he has now also been cast in Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi action movie Inception alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy and Ellen Page. Rockin’.
Yet more Nightmare on Elm Street casting news: Twilight star Kellan Lutz will be hacked up in his sleep by Jackie Earle Haley’s Freddy Krueger.
- Relatively good news on the Russell Crowe front. In Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood, Crowe was due to play both Robin and The Sherriff of Nottingham. Thankfully Scott has decided to chop Crowe’s screen time in half by casting Matthew MacFadyen as the Sherrif. Now if he could just recast Robin too, I’d be happy.
- I showed this trailer before, but Niamh reminded me that it goes on release next week. It’s Michael Caine’s film Is Anybody There?
Machete!! AWESOME-O. I loved Grindhouse.
