Confessions of a Trend Whore: How The World Fell Out of Love with Madonna

She looked like Donny Darko, Perez Hilton (a self-professed massive fan) barked. Michael K of D Listed (a blog on which Madonna is referred to as ‘Vadge’) almost lost his mind in fits ridicule. “She’s lost it!” magazines cried. “She looks ridiculous!” commuters tittered on trains to work flicking through free sheets the next morning. “A humbling honour”, says he…

So the powers-that-be in RTÉ have decided, and announced this evening, that Ryan Tubridy is the man to replace Pat Kenny. The 35-year-old presenter’s first programme as host of ‘The Late Late Show’ will be broadcast in September. Commenting on taking over the programme from departing host Pat Kenny, new host Tubridy said: “I’m very taken aback by this announcement. ‘The Late Late Show’ casts a wide net across this island and it is a humbling honour to be asked to present such an iconic programme”. God Help the Girl - Come Monday Night

“Come Monday Night” is the first music video from God Help The Girl, a story set to music by Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian. This is the first single from a new album by Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian. Some five years in the making, Murdoch had the idea when out for a run and then worked away on it, bringing in people like Catherine Ireton from Limerick, the Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon, Asya from Smoosh and the members of Belle and Sebastian. It’s an album about a story, performed by an ensemble and created with love. I think that’s the best way of describing it. The official website is over here - I particularly love the Q&A. If the rest of the album - released June 19 - is as good as the first single, it could become a summer soundtrack.
