Title: Push
Artist: Josh Weller
Label: unsigned/Yodel
Release: EP Launch May 4 2009
Sounds like an old song. I mean sea shanty or vaudeville old. The style is described as “cabaret pop”, sounds like something on “Tubridy Tonight” but don’t let that stop you. I like this, its not love just yet. Its hard to hear it without tapping your toe, it sounds happy. The lyrics on the other hand are pure anger/denial with a little love angst thrown in. In short, the London singer-songwriter does brilliant writing. For other people too. Remember the name.
And with hair designed to be noticed (or Robert Smith’s hair is all grown up now), here comes the video.
And you’ll be humming it for a while, sorry.
Can’t help wondering it the “Tuesday Push” want to adopt a song?.

Darren likes this song.
Brilliant. I think ‘vaudeville pop’ is a good description. His expression at the end of the video is priceless.
He shows up quite a bit on other people’s videos on Youtube. I think he mugs unconsciously mid sentence.
Sometimes you get someone doing their own thing, and you know that they could make a huge success out of it.
What Josh is doing isn’t fashionable pop. Much like Imelda May isn’t. But because she was different, and good, she stood out all the more. Same with this guy.
Really, really like this Will, it very much rings my bell.
Glad to hear it.
We aims to please down at Culch.ie Pharms.
Actually no I take that back. I know what else is on my schedule.
