I have a dream…works…

  • Spielberg is working on a biopic of the life of Martin Luther King Jr. The only question - what took him so long?
  • Claire Forlani, Dougray Scott and Rufus Sewell will star in the modern retelling of The Fall of the House of Usher. Poe’s classic story will even be shot in 3D
  • Humpty DumptyI mentioned the Humpty Dumpty horror movie before, well the posters are out. Damn creepy stuff. And doesn’t it look freakishly similar to some of this guys work?
  • It seems that Bradley Cooper is set to place Face in the A-Team movie (due for release in June 2010). I’m not liking the choice. Anyone else?
  • The latest board game set to become a movie is Battleship. I assume it will be some high seas adventure tale. Strange though. Monopoly is already in the works too, so I ask, what board game from your youth would you like to see on the big screen? A two hour session of Pictionary in 3D perhaps?
  • Milla Jovovich is joining Edward Norton and Robert De Niro in Stone, a film about a convicted arsonist who engages in a psychological cat-and-mouse game with his parole officer.
  • Did anyone catch last year’s Primeval on ITV? I saw an episode or two and while the idea was ok, it was a poor imitation of BBC’s Torchwood. Well, it seems Warner Bros have bought up the rights to it and are going to make a big screen version. Could be good.
  • Gemma ArtertonGemma Arterton (from Quantum of Solice and The Boat That Rocked) and Ed Westwick (Chuck in Gossip Girl) are going to play Cathy and Heathcliff in a new take on Wuthering Heights. Um…it’s refreshing to see it having a young cast, as originally intended, but Chuck as Heathcliff???
  • I’m sure it’s just a silly rumour, but word has it that Ridley Scott and Anthony Hopkins are reteaming to bring Hannibal back. Don’t get me wrong, I love Hannibal Lecter - he is one of cinema’s greatest characters - but surely this boat has well and truly sailed.
  • Woop! The first trailer for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes is up:

  • Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong - what idiot greenlit this movie? -

  1. Ronan says:

I’d love to see a version of Xs and Os on the big screen. It’d put Warhol’s ‘Sleep’ to shame!

  2. Anthony McG says:

    Holmes looks good.

Where are you finding those insanely bad movies?

  3. Ciara says:

MLK movie is a runner now cause of Obama, simple as.

  4. Darren Byrne says:

@Ronan Five hours of one guy deliberating over his first X. In the corner or in the middle? In the corner or in the middle? It’s an allegory for wasted life. I smell an Oscar…

@Anto I spend too much of my time reading some terrible movie sites.

@Ciara Yep - I think so. It’s insane that a big budget biopic of Bush (I love alliteration) got made before MLK.

  5. Will says:

Sherlock.. Ah, a comedy adventure with a bit of thriller thrown in. May be fun.

Gooby… Looks like a bad parody. But Robbie Coltrane could (literally) phone his lines in to the actor in the suit (there is no way he is under that costume). The director is called “Wilson Coneybeare”. Yet it seems real.

Here is hoping that “gooby” is actually the film within a film. I mean who makes stuff that bad, unless some studio really needs a loss making movie for the accountants.

And I suspect that an American Movie version of Primeval could be good (simple premise, maximum mayhem).

  6. Lottie says:

Ooh Humpty Dumpty - thought it was Childs Play…6? there for a moment.

    Fun!

  7. Allan says:

    It’s Pedo Bear.

  8. Peter says:

The Humpty Dumpty poster reminded me of the cover of the books of blood by Clive Barker. Think it was that image of the guy in the bottom right:

And on a lighter note: Ricky on Humpty:

  9. Darren Byrne says:

@Allan It is though. I think it might be one of those educational films they show to young kids to warn them about sexual predators. “Don’t accept sweets from strangers and never run off with a creepy man in a bear costume.”

  10. Darren Byrne says:

Don’t sit on a wall if you’re an egg.

    @Peter Sound advice.

  11. Adrian says:

    Dominic West = Face. FTW

  12. Darren Byrne says:

@Adrian That’d be closer to it, but still not quite right. How about Ryan Reynolds?

  13. Adrian says:

Ya I’d take that darren. First I’ve heard of the film today. I’m thinking Robert Carlyle for Murdoch. Presume it’s casted though?

  14. Darren Byrne says:

@Adrian Nothing is confirmed yet, but it seems Carnahan wants Woody Harrelson to play Murdock. Madness! Carlyle is getting a bit old for the role. If they were casting him, they may as well keep the original. I still think BA should return as Mr. T. :)

  15. Adrian says:

@Darren, thanks again for that. ive changed my mind of carlyle anyway - and youre right. great game for the pub this week though… Jeremy Piven for Hannibal is my last shout
