Who Ya Gonna Communicate With Through The Method Of Telecommunication?

Why the Ghosbusters of course.

It seems to me that everyone’s favourite ghoul-hunting group are on the rise again. From the song being used on two new telly ads to getting their very own video-game,and the threequel currently in production, it certainly seems to be the right time to revisit Venkman and the gang.

First up, the 11811 ad. Ray Parker Jr. himself actually came back from where ever the hell he’s been for the past 25 years to re-record this. Is it selling out? Oh, not at all…

And now the new Citreon ad, much more blatantly ripping off the GB’s. Going so far as to have a giant stay-puft wannabe made of metally stuffs, and some the most un-ghostbustery looking models I have ever seen clad in black leather. They even remixed the theme tune! For the love of God why??

ghostbusters_videogame_front2Heading in a much more promising direction is the upcoming video-game from Atari. Featuring nearly all the original cast members and with a script written by the writers of the first two movies, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, it looks like it’s going to be a worthy entry into Ghostbusters canon. The fact that the gameplay and graphics are pretty amazing dosn’t hurt either. This game has gone through a number of developers over the past few years, from Zootfly to Sierra to Vivendi and now finally Atari is realeasing it in June. Can. Not. Wait.

And now, finally, after all these years Ghostbusters III is finally in development. In a recent interview Harold Ramis stated that getting Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver to finally sign on was key to pushing the project forward. The story will revolve around the original gang training new recruits , and they’ll all be going down to hell to fight the ghosts. Or something. Whatever happens, it should start filming early next year and I can’t wait.

So in conclusion, the Ghostbusters rock. I shall definitely be buying the game, seeing he new movie when it comes out (in like, 2011?) and trying to avoid the Citreon Ghostbustieren.

I could finish off with some ‘who ya gonna call?’ pun, but considering that wouldn’t be very original I will instead warn you all to never cross the streams, and whatever you do…
