What happens when you walk into a cinema filled with peopel wearing sunglasses? It might be a sign that you’re going to see something different - or childish.
Well Coraline is a bit of both. It’s a children’s film, really but it’s a kids film for grown ups.
First of all, i have to get it out of the way - 12 euro per ticket for 3D films, and €1.50 supplement for unlimited customers. I’m outraged at that.
Not enough that i’d tell people to stay away from Coraline. It’s a beautiful, colourful, funny film.
It’s all about blue haired Coraline, who’s parents don’t have much time for her. They’ve just moved into the Pink palace apartments and are getting on with their gardening catalogue.
Coraline starts to go exploring and finds a little door that leads into another world, where everything looks a little bit brighter, and tastier.
Except for one little detail - they’ve got buttons for eyes, and YES, that is as scary as you’d think.
I loved Coraline and before I went it was a toss up between Angels and Demons, what was I thinking?
Coraline has all the brilliant things you want from a movie - action, tension, a courageous lead character, a great story, lovely script and stunning visuals.
The stop motion looks really breath-taking especially when you think about all the work that goes into a film like this.
Bring yourself, and your kids (i don’t think it’s too scary), see if you can see my twin, and enjoy yourself at a really lovely, visually beautiful, articulate, clever, and funny film.
RPs says a resounding yes.
What?? A supplement for Unlimited Card peeps? They must have only started that since I saw Bolt in 3d with no extra charge.
Thought the visuals in Coraline were superb though and the only film that I have seen that would justify seeing it in 3d.
I loved Coraline too RPs so wonderful to just look at never mind what was going on in the story!
Found it a bit long near the end but the visuals were marvellous (and not too scary for kids, as you said!)
@tim The supplement, i know .. the cheek of them! I was open mouthed handing over my cashola! I haven’t seen any others in 3d.. not since i was a kid with those rubbish paper glasses…
@Niamh: It was really beautiful, and the detail was unbelievable!
I forgot to mention the music too, because that was relaly lovely, that little french theme in the middle.. Tra lala
