I’m a shit blogger. Feel free to agree in comments. I’ve had so much to do here and writing anything of substance seems like an impossible hill of keys to climb. Youtubes? Links? I’m yer man. Midsummer Festival, Temple Bar

The longest day of the year is almost upon us - shocking really! To celebrate the summer solstice, the Temple Bar Cultural Trust are having their annual Midsummer Festival in Meeting House Square this weekend. Over the course of Saturday and Sunday, 20 and 21 June, Meeting House Square will be transformed into an urban meadow with a carpet of grass (wooo!) for people to get cosy on picnic blankets and be entertained for the day. Unusual place for a picnic, sounds like fun! Some fire performers will mark the start of the Summer Solstice festivities with a breathtaking visual display of fire dancing and juggling at 4pm on Saturday evening, followed later at 10pm by an outdoor screening of Dead Poets Society. “Those who can’t do it, review it” I need you to keep that in mind. I starred in a show about 5 years ago which took 8 months to rehearse and involved numerous re-writes and choreography changes. There was a lot of tension on and off the stage between the production team and the musical society that had hired them. The society had won The John Player Tops a few years ago and thought they were the shit. The production team had various awards and successful shows under their collective belts and so thought they were the shit. There were people in the cast who shouldn’t have been singing in the chorus, never mind solo work, but they got what they wanted because they had financed the show.
