The Mirror Has Two Faces

I‘ve had enough. I’m tired, bored and a little embarrassed at the endless tirade of praise lauded upon Michael Jackson. “He was my hero“, “he was the king of pop“, “he donated X trillion to children’s charities“, “his songs were a beacon of hope to the world” (I swear I read that just today), “hero“, “hero“, “hero“…this has to stop. Though I’m not a massive fan of his music, I will concede the man was a musical genius who changed the direction of 80′s pop, but a difficult life shrouded in secrets, strange behaviour and repeated allegations of sexual misconduct with minors should surely result in somewhat less biased media coverage. For the record, Michael Jackson openly admitted to sleeping in bed with underage boys. Is it illegal? No. Is it wrong? Likely. Is it highly questionable? Most definitely. Off The Wall In the early 90′s there were allegations made … There’s more

It’s Summer, It’s Music Festivals

Ever since last year at Oxegen, I’ve developed a soft spot if you will for music festivals. Granted I’ve only been to one , but of course intend to attend more in the future. Seeing the televised Glastonbury just this past week enlightened me of how much there is to do and see there. And something I didn’t know until recently was that children were permitted to do shtuff at Glastonbury which is just a fantastic idea, as long as its done right… For a young ‘un its possible that something as great as music festival could change their whole vision of music. Could even spark a career, who knows. So you can take it I’m big into allowing young people into gigs, as long as its kept responsible…ish One festival I know of that is big into the whole young people and music festival thing is Plectrum. This isn’t … There’s more

I see my chance

According to respected celebrity publication “Closer”, Charlotte Church wants to marry her long term boyfriend, Gavin Henson. Now, first of all most would question why she would want to marry a monkey like him when there’s a perfectly charming and ruggedly handsome man like me in the world. Maybe he used the line, “I can let you see Kermit anytime you want”. Steal my chat up lines? I’ll learn ya. But the bigger question is, why wouldn’t this muppet worrying chav want to marry Charlotte? I’ll leave what I’d do to her to the pages of my own blog, for this is for pop culture. Well, it’s gossip really. But that’s just the nasty name for pop culture. This site is very popular, far as I can tell, and therefor there must be someone who might have a connection, or a friend of a friend, or a guy in the … There’s more

Fantasy Bazaar No.1 - Y: The Last Man

Right, here’s the blurb. From next week, I’m going to be alternating Infected and a new column called Fantasy Bazaar every second week. Next Wed, I’ll post Fantasy Bazaar No.2, the following Wed Infected and so on… Fantasy Bazaar* is going to be a fort-nightly comics column, focusing on Graphic Novels. Every fortnight, we’ll be reviewing a favourite Graphic Novel or Comic Book Series of ours from the past or present, hopefully converting a few people to the medium of the Graphic Novel in the process. Fantasy Bazaar No.1 Y: The Last Man There are so many post-apocalyptic novels, comics, movies and games these days, that it’s hard to even begin to distinguish one from another at times. With natural disasters and Zombies being the most common theme throughout the majority of this work, it’s very refreshing when a comic like Y: The Last Man (Y:TLM) comes along. It beganin … There’s more
