I have spoken about Shane Langan before - his nervous, awkward comedy is fantastic to watch and listen to. His show is an evening of comedy literature and for the Carlsberg Comedy Carnival he has a number of special guests joining him, including Maeve Higgins, Mark Doherty, Jarlath Regan, Barry Murphy, Ian Coppinger, Kevin Gildea and The League of Gentlemen’s Jeremy Dyson.
…not like any comedy night I’ve been to before. It was chaotic and random, it was clever and thought provoking, but above all else, it was funny from start to end.
I spoke with Shane about his show, Not Also But Only:
The Not Also But Only show is likely to be the highlight of the Comedy Carnival. With so many acts breaking out of their own comfort zones, it will certainly be the most varied act of the weekend. It runs on Sunday 26th July at 6pm as part of the Carlsberg Comedy Carnival and tickets are still available from Ticketmaster.
For more of Shane, check out his teaser for the Edinburgh Fringe Show:
I’m looking forward to seeing Shane in action. His writing has always convinced me (a) to do more writing, and (b) that I can’t write.
I’d love to capture some of the stuff he does on stage on camera. He really is a natural at appearing completely awkward which very much goes to his advantage and works well. He knows what he’s at.
Would highly recommend catching him either as part of Diet of Worms (very funny, lovely people) or Not Also, But Only (thinking man’s literary comedy)
Best of luck this weekend and in Edinburgh Shane!
Yeah I’d absolutely recommend the show to everyone. I’ve been to (almost) every show NABO has had thus far and they’re always great, interesting and of course, funny.
I’ll never forget the bear, though. I’ll say no more
I really hope loads of people go to see him. I’m met with blank faces toooften when I talk about how great he is.
