In Movies@Dundrum on Sunday 26 July at 5pm there will be a preview screening of new movie Bandslam and here at Culch.ie we have 5 pairs of tickets to give away
When gifted singer songwriter Charlotte Banks asks new kid in town Will Burton to manage her fledging rock band, she appears to have just one goal in mind: go head-to-head against her egotistical musician ex-boyfriend, Ben at the biggest event of the year – a battle of the bands.
Against all odds, the band of outcasts develop a sound that has a shot at success. Meanwhile a romance brews between Will and a musically gifted Sam and he must decide where his allegiance lies. When disaster strikes, it’s time for the band to make a choice: Do they admit defeat or face the music and stand up for what they believe in?
Aside from the movie, from 1pm there will also be a battle of the bands outside the cinema, which will be judged by star of the film Alyson Michalka!
Pit yourself against other bands in the Nintendo Wii Guitar Hero contest - there’s no need to pre-register, simply show up on the day with your friends to compete, or just enjoy the entertainment!
Bandslam will be on full release on 12 August but if you don’t want to wait that long - put your name in the comments below for a pair of tickets - the first 5 people to tell me their lame claim to rock fame will get a pair, it’s that simple

Here is my little review of Bandslam!
I was very apprehensive when I got there and the average age was 12! At half past 5 the lights the lights went out and the film started.
I have to say that I did enjoy the film. The music in it was excellent. The kids in the cinema were like American audiences at films. The cheered and clapped along. The story is based around Will Burton (Gaelan Connell). He frequently writes to his hero David Bowie frequently telling him all about his crappy life. He leaves his old school where he is bullied and/or ignored by everyone to move to New Jersey with his mom Karen (Lisa Kudrow). Here he befriends Sa5m (The 5 is silent(!) played by the beautiful Vanessa Hudgens) a quiet introverted girl who reads a lot. The most popular girl in school Charlotte Banks (Aly Michalka) suddenly decides she’s going to be his friend and drags him to help her mind kids in an afterschool programme (A bit bizarre!!). He then shows her that he knows a lot about music and she gets him to manage her band who are going to enter into a competition called (Yea you guessed it!) Bandslam against her ex-boyfriend Ben’s band (Scott Porter and the Glory Dogs). With a guest appearance and a few background songs from David Bowie and a tour of the now defunct CBGB’s I did enjoy it! It fits right in with the High School Musical/Miley Cyrus all singing/acting kids genre!
After the film Aly Michalka came in to say a few words. The kids in the audience went crazy! So while I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone, if you have daughters, little sisters or nieces I would bring them! They will love it and you wont have to tear your eyes out!
