Review ‘Mesrine: Killer Instinct’

“To some he was a gangster,

To others a hero,

But to everyone,

He was a legend.”

Mesrine: Killer Instinct is the first of two films made about the life of notorious French criminal Jacques Mesrine. Unlike other sequels, you only need wait until 28 August to see part two :)

The film follows the life of Jacques Mesrine from his early adult encounters in the French army in Algeria in 1959 through to the pinnacle of his criminal career in 1969 when he was declared Public Enemy Number One in Canada.

1102723_Public_EnemyMesrine: Killer Instinct charts Mesrine’s rise from soldier to house burglar to bank robber to kidnapper to jail escapee - he escaped from four top security prisons in his time. We see the many sides to Mesrine, the family man who adores his beautiful Spanish wife Sofia and their three children, particularly his daughter, a humorous guy, a loyal friend, a man of his word. But a very violent, dangerous man as well.

You can’t help but like the man, despite the fact that he is a gun-wielding ego maniac, he is also full of charisma, character and charm-which explains his many successes with the ladies :)

If you liked films such as Goodfellas, Scarface, The Godfather trilogy, then you will most likely enjoy Mesrine: Killer Instinct. It is the first film I’ve seen in a really long time that I have wanted to watch again almost immediately!

You can enter our competition to win tickets to a free preview of it next Tuesday evening in Cineworld, Dublin here up to 1pm tomorrow.

You’re very welcome Efa, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’m still thinking about it two weeks later.
‘Mesrine: Public Enemy Number One’ is in cinemas here on 28 August so you don’t have too long to wait for that one either :D
