Support DEAF and have a great night out for a tenner

You know the annual Dublin Electronic Arts Festival? The one that will be eight this year? The one from Thursday 22 to Saturday 31 October? They’re doing something really cool soon, and all for a tenner.

Meeting House Square, Temple Bar on Friday August 21 from 6pm sharp sees the start of their fundraising, with a very special gig by eight talented artists. The square will be covered with a temporary roof, they have a full bar and there’s really great groups to be enjoyed.

Boxcutter, Channel One, Dark Room Notes, The Jimmy Cake, Spilly Walker, Thread Pulls, Sarsparilla and Patrick Kelleher & his Cold Dead Hands are all performing for free that night and the money raised will go to help DEAF who, like many arts groups, have had difficulty securing sponsorships and cuts in arts funding.

Tickets with no booking fees are available from Road Records, Fade St, D2 and City Discs, The Granary, Temple Bar, D2. Tickets online are from www.tickets.ie have a .95c minimum charge.

You’ll be supporting DEAF, who this year will have over 70 events in place, utilising 45 music venues, gallery spaces, clubs and bars. Highlights include Modeselector, Soap & Skin, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Surgeon, Christian Vogel, Planetary Assault Systems, Grouper, John Weise, Roger Doyle @60, Crash Ensemble, David Rodigan & Dam Funk, plus much more to come.

It should be a great night and you’ll get to hear great bands and support the Arts in Ireland. That ain’t bad for a tenner, is it?
