Free Urban Circus Skills Workshops

If you missed the Urban Circus a couple of weeks ago, you have another chance to entertain the kids and let them get down to some juggling, stilt walking, diabolo juggling or tight rope walking. Who knows, they might learn enough skills to run away with the circus For the next two weekends the Urban Circus Skills Workshop will be on in Wolfe Tone Park, Dublin 1 between 2.00pm and 5.00pm. They are planning a range of free walk-in workshops for kids in juggling, stilt-walking - I’m sure they are only little stilts! - the ancient chinese art of Diabolo, and walking the tight rope. All workshops are free and you do not need to book in advance, just show up between 2 and 5pm on 22, 23, 29 or 30 August at Wolfe Tone Park and enjoy! With school time approaching fast, I’m sure kids will want to squeeze … There’s more

Competition: Welcome to the House of Fun, Ardal O’Hanlon

** And the winners, as selected by some random girl I found, are as follows:** Mr. Travors and Joe Reynolds ** Congrats to Joe and Travors who have won a pair of tickets each to ** ** Ardal O’Hanlon, presented by The House of Fun at the Axis Theatre ** Despite the many stand up comedy gigs I’ve been to over the years, I’ve never been lucky enough to catch Ardal O’Hanlon. This is something I plan to rectify next weekend when the star of new film Wide Open Spaces, TV’s My Hero and a little known comedy show about priests, comes to the Axis Theatre in Ballymun. The House of Fun present Ardal O’Hanlon who will bring his own brand of intelligent, dry, deadpan comedy to the Axis on 21st August at 8pm. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing him outside of my tellybox and being himself. … There’s more

Finding out about HOGAN with an exclusive performance of Jealousy

If there’s one Irish band that deserves success by dint of sheer enthusiasm, energy, great sounds and a mischievous sense of fun, it’s HOGAN. I’ve had their single ‘Jealousy‘ playing in the kitchen for a good while now. Reminiscent a tiny bit of McFly, a small bit of Busted and a huge amount of their own infectious, get-the-body-moving pop - though I’d hate to even label it as that. It’s just a great song with good, memorable lyrics. If it’s a reflection on the new album, I’m definitely buying it. And so I decided to find out more about them.

Is Dublin City fit for purpose? The Temple Bar debate

In Meeting House Square, Temple Bar this Wednesday, August 19 at 6.30 (gates at 6), an important anonymous debate on Dublin, Culture and the city will take place. It’s a free event, doesn’t require tickets and everyone is invited. In anticipation of Culture Night 2009, Dublin’s citizens, funders, public representatives, artists and more are called to to take part in ‘Culture and the City – the Debate’, a masked anonymous debate and theatrical event where invited guests and audience members will respond to broad questions about Culture and the City, including the exploration of issues such as control and regulation of space and the citizens level of involvement in this. In an interesting twist, all audience members, invited guests and crew will be required to wear a white upper face mask upon passing a screen at the entrance to Meeting House Square and all will remain anonymous throughout. This theatrical … There’s more
