Happy movie scenes (in praise of great Fridays)

(Grumpy people will either HATE this post, or be cheered up, but if happy clappy cheerful movie scenes ain’t your thing, run away now). Ever have one of those days when everything is just brilliant? I’m having one today, but of course no one really wants to hear that things are great with someone. We look for the dark side, the pointed “ah but what about how full of fail you are?” and the way to bring the person back to crushing reality. Not so in the movies though. There’s a certain talent there to make an awesome day seem even better. There’s some movies I can think of that do it really really well - so well they’re memorable, they look like fun to have been in and I’d love to give it a go. Sometimes it feels like I’m in one. Music News 21/8/09

So what do you guys think? I want your opinion on it. Are you liking Music News on Culch.ie? According to We Are Scientists frontman, Keith Murray, the band have turned writing their upcoming album into a big holiday. He’s staying in Georgia right now, writing songs in a rented cottage. Babyshambles have announced, much to the dismay of many I’m sure, that they will purposefully delay their third LP because “The current indie scene is so bad”, drummer Adam Ficek explained. He noted that most guitar bands are struggling in the UK right now because of the recent surge in popularity of electro pop lately. Coincidently, ex-Stone Roses bassist Mani vented his anger at British bands aswell stating “Twenty … There’s more

run away with the circus….?

This one almost slipped by me…. Yip, I met David and Karl from Emerald Circus at the smithfield gig last week. Two really cool guys being really honest. And it was amazing to see the kids at the smithfield event watching in amazement at what the guys could do. It was even better when the youngsters [and some of the more corageous adults ] decided to give it a go. Its also ‘a little further removed from a sofa and a pile of computer games’ one parent nodded to me…. fair point For a guy who used to entertain himself climbing trees… I can’t really argue with that! Check this out…. also this from Joergs dublin event guide for free URBAN CIRCUS SKILLS WORKSHOP - WOLF TONE SQUARE As part of the ‘BIDs for Kids’ Summer Programme Circus Skills Workshops are taking place on Wolfe Tone Square, next to Jervis … There’s more

Erinn’s cover of “I’m Yours” with his own You Tube band

If you’re thinking of something to create online for your loved one, you could do worse than take Erinn’s example. Here’s his first YouTube video, dedicated to his girlfriend on her birthday. Awww. What did he do? Well, he took Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours“, found nine different You Tubers playing the song - ukelele, bass, drums, guitar, piano, steel drums, flute and trombone and stuck it all together to make quite an endearing, lovely song! Pretty great, eh? You can also download it here. Spotted over on Today’s Big Thing -the awesomest thing on the Internet, every day.
