Music News 21/8/09

So what do you guys think? I want your opinion on it. Are you liking Music News on Culch.ie?

  • According to We Are Scientists frontman, Keith Murray, the band have turned writing their upcoming album into a big holiday. He’s staying in Georgia right now, writing songs in a rented cottage. Next month he’s living on Miami Beach.
    Oooh. No recession ’round here.
  • Babyshambles have announced, much to the dismay of many I’m sure, that they will purposefully delay their third LP because “The current indie scene is so bad”, drummer Adam Ficek explained. He noted that most guitar bands are struggling in the UK right now because of the recent surge in popularity of electro pop lately. Consequently, the band have chosen to wait a while until British music will be back to its best.

Coincidently, ex-Stone Roses bassist Mani vented his anger at British bands aswell stating “Twenty years on and The Stone Roses are still fresh and stand out amidst a torrent of mediocrity, career-orientated, dull as dishwater, safe, unimaginative music that dares to challenge for our crown”.
    Ouch..

  • Anyone remember the tidbit I posted last week about the new “Super-group” consisting of Dave Grohl, John Paul Jones, and Josh Homme? No?.. You mean to say you didn’t check out my super amazing fantastic music news column on Culch.ie last week? How could you? Well then. Here’s a sad face that will stare at you with evil intentions.
  • Yep. Now look what you’ve gone and done.

    Eh…? Ah. Music News. Right..

Okay well Them Crooked Vultures have left a teeny tiny teaser on Youtube. Apparently the snippet is from the song Nobody Loves Me And Neither Do I. Check it out: Noice hats. They’ve left us a video from rehearsals too! Aww. Aren’t they luvly.

  • Smashing Pumpkins have decided on a new drummer, Mike Byrne, after Jimmy Chamberlin left this past March. Pumpkins held auditions for a few weeks after Chamberlin left and frontman Billy Corgan said “Mike just stood out. He has what all great drummer’s possess. A stunning blend of power, speed and grace”. I’m looking forward to seeing this guy now. Maybe he can even push the rest of the band to be write even better music.
  • Aerosmith now face legal action because they have cancelled their summer tour. The reasoning behind the cancellation is because of Tyler’s fall. Thousands of fans have been left disappointed and some angered at the fact that the tour has been cancelled. But C’mon. Gotta let grandad heal…
  • If you own a PS3, then you’re in luck (I guess) because the video premiere of The Never-Ending Why from Placebo will be available on VidZone on PS3 from the 19th of August. The video is about semi-surreal narrative mixing Asian styled puppet animation with hyper coloured 3D design. Right. So. Ted.
  • Alice In Chains fans? Listen ere! They’ve released a brand new single, Check My Brain, on their myspace.
  • The next single to hit the airwaves from Weezer will be titled “(If You Are Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To”. Seriously that’s the name.. That song will be released Tuesday 25th and the band also confirmed recently that the follow-up to self-titled/Red Album will be released October 27th. The new single:

Definitely catchy..
