Robbie Williams’ Bodies

Excuse me while I depart from my Beatles-centric posting for a moment. Robbie Williams’ new single has just had its first airing on the Chris Moyles Show on BBC Radio One and on Ian Dempsey’s Breakfast Show on TodayFM. Bodies is his first single release since 2007′s She’s Madonna and it’s actually pretty good. Perhaps the ego with a man’s body attached to it can return to his hay days of Life Thru a Lens and I’ve Been Expecting You. Tell us what you think…

I heard it on my way to work earlier, Ian Dempsey had the Irish exclusive on his show just after 8 this morning.

It sounds pretty good. It’d be great to see Robbie back in full-on swagger mode. The album apparently has a few different beats to it including that old Robbie staple the ballad.

  2. Darren Byrne says:

@Niall Cheers. I’ll edit the post.

I like the song. I’ve listened to it a couple of times now. I look forward to the album - I’ve always liked Robbie (since he departed that boy band), but it’s been a while since he’s been on form.

OK time for me to own up…Massive RW fan of old, pre&post TT (please don’t judge me, I was young & impressionable!)

I was gutted when Rude Box et al came out, it was such a big pile of steaming you-know-what. Could not have been more disappointed - can’t even name 3 songs on the last album - I just couldn’t listen to it.

I’m hesitant to make a call on it just yet. The song is good, but didn’t make my spine tingle. Maybe it will grow on me, or some of the other album toons will be bril, time will tell. The second listening was better! I doubt it will become the anthem that rock dj/let me entertain you etc quickly turned into. Very excited to see what the rest of the album will be like actually…

Thank you very much Darren for making it easy to find online this morning - I missed the radio slot, slept in! I knew Culch would come thru ;)

@MJ Sure, isn’t that what we’re here for.

  5. It’s fucking DREADFUL.

  6. Darren Byrne says:

But Stew, tell us what you really think.

Nice briefly seeing you yesterday evening. I think I was rushing off when I finally found you. Good night?

  7. yeah great night, great mix of new faces and the usual suspects. But man, that song, bluergh! Just because you know what words rhyme with other words and have a bleepy-bloopy machine and tatoos doesn’t mean you should inflict shite music on people.

  8. Andrina says:

love it - very Robbie… lookin forward to the album in November! Ian Dempsey is on Today FM though!

  9. Darren Byrne says:

@Andrina Argh!! I know that. Stupid typo. Sorry and thanks.

  10. Maxi Cane says:

Word for word what MJ said.

Finally got a chance to listen to this today and it’s a thumbs up here at lecraic towers. Raw sound with echoes of the Pet Shop Boys I thought.

  12. Niamh says:

Hmmm. I’ve seen Robbie live twice and loved his stuff up to his more recent stuff when everything started to sound a bit the same. And this is not different. It’s all a bit meh to me, I had to force myself to listen to the end in case it got any better. It didn’t.

About time he dragged himself back into music though, he’s been M.I.A. since Take That made their reappearance.

  13. Padraic Coyne says:

I’m not ashamed to say I’ve been a Robbie fan for the most part and as much as this song tries too many things, it’s been stuck in my head for days now.
