Liveblogging, not Ronseal
As usual for a Monday, yesterday morning twitter was, well, all a-twitter about how terrible it was that the week had started again. After a long day, the whingeing hadn’t gotten any less annoying.
In fact, it had gotten louder, seeing as it wasn’t on twitter anymore. One of the last things said to me before I hopped in my beloved car and drove home, in fact, was “We were all psyched to go out tonight, but we’re wrecked now. Long bloody day.”
I’m not usually one for Mondays. At all. But for a few weeks now, they’ve not been that bad. Simply because there is now something to look forward to on Monday evenings. At about 8:30, I settle down on the couch for a couple of hours, with a nice drink, some food, the TV and my laptop.
Between 8:45 and 9, people start to arrive. First in a trickle, and then a more steady stream, until all the usual suspects are there, and a few newcomers of course, who are always more than welcome to stay and enjoy themselves for the evening.
No, I’m not hosting some sort of sad technology party. I’m liveblogging.
Starting halfway through the 2nd part of Monday night Coronation Street, to make sure people can arrive and settle in before the show begins and continuing til the end of Brendan O’Connor’s ‘You’re Fired’, Darren runs a liveblog of The Apprentice (which airs on tv3 every Monday evening from 9pm).
A what? A liveblog. The name is sort of deceiving, because it’s not a group of people transcribing exactly what happens in the episode and nothing else. It’s much more than that.
Geraldine is just so lovely. I’ll hire her.
It’s like having a group of people in the room with you, who all love talking at the TV, and discussing what’s happening on screen (with one person on the phone in the corner, updating someone every so often about tidbits relating to what’s happened).
The STATE of the half-painted house.
The real beauty of the liveblog, though, is that even though you can engage with these telly-talkers, you don’t have to ‘Shhh!’ anyone or miss any of the action, because it’s all text based.
If Jen stays I’ll suck the botox out of Jackie’s face.
Bob Geldof once requested “Tell me why I don’t like Mondays”. Bob, it’s because there was no Apprentice, and no Liveblog!
The teams did a lot of physical work (except for shopaholic Jen), but they didn’t use their heads at all.
So if you don’t like Mondays, or even if you do, come along next week and enjoy great banter, gregarious craic, and good television. All you have to do is head over to the Culch Apprentice Page at about 8:45 and click on the link to log in to the live blog and start chatting. Yes, it’s really just that easy to get involved. Even if you can’t get to a TV, we’ll do our best to keep you up to date about exactly what’s going on!
She looks like Biddy from Glenroe…

Great I’ve missed the liveblog the past two weeks, hopefully I’ll be back on Monday, I miss the banter. Although I do see an awful lot more of the programme when I’m not looking at my laptop all night
