Poe Show is returning to Bewleys Café Theatre on 20 October for the Halloween season having played earlier this year to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Edgar Allan Poe, American writer and Gothic master of mysterious and macabre tales. It features some of Poes most terrifying, dark tales and poems with a backdrop of live music…no doubt eery, spooky music. If you enjoy Poes work, storytelling or ghost stories I think this will be a great event to go to, especially at this time of the year.
Poe Show will be performed for two weeks from Tuesday 20 Oct (preview Mon 19th) with the final performance, fittingly, on Halloween. Shows are every day at 1.10pm (doors open 12.50pm), with an additional 8pm show on Halloween.
Tickets are €15 and include a lunch of soup and hearty bread.
Poe Show is said to be suitable for children over the age of 7 but you can check this and prices for children with Bewleys Café Theatre on [email protected] or 086-8784001.
IF, for any reason you can’t catch Poe Show during the two weeks in the run up to Halloween, the show is also doing a tour, Edgar Allan Poe: The Country House Tour.
I reckon experiencing it in the setting of a very old and possibly haunted house or church might actually add more to the ambience and the chilling fear factor!

I knew the Poe Show was on in Bewley’s but did not make it there. Next time over I will definitely stay longer and do and see more..
Wow, this sounds like my cup of tea! (okay that was terrible) lol
*sticks in the diary*
I think the church/castle locations really would add an extra layer to the spooky atmosphere.
Should be great alright - Emlyn, I’m thinking the same about the old places!
