Olé, olé, olé, oh dear…

The lads (and lass) of Dublin’s 98 Morning Crew have recorded a song to give the Irish Team a boost on their South African World Cup trip. Come on Trap’s Boys!

You’ve got to admire the honesty of the lyrics. Gone are the days of put ‘em under pressure.

And we really shake them up
When we win the World Cup
Cause Ireland’s are the greatest football team

And instead we have…

We don’t have the world’s best players
In fact, half of them are terrified.

Fair play to Dermot, Dave and Siobhan. Brilliant. :)

Clever but defeatist. We need to be putting the fear of God in the opponents, not making them laugh! Bah humbug…

  2. Calum says:

Overtones of Del Amitri’s official Scotland World Cup song from 1998 — the wisftul “Don’t Come Home Too Soon”! That was considered “defeatist” by some as well, although personally (as both a Scotland fan and a Del Amitri fan) I rather liked it.

Been following the Irish team since the “ooh-ahh Paul McGrath” days.
I don’t think the team is likely to put the fear of God into too many sides, although I wish them well.

Guess the song is defeatist but with a sense of humor “even though we know we’ll probably lose, we’ll go anyway just for the booze..” :)

Never a huge follower of football (though strangely don’t mind playing it the odd time ), but i really wish the Irish team all the best, and hope they make it to the World Cup. I still have very fond memories of the 1990 one, what a great summer (sniff)…whether you were into the old footie or not. ;)
