A Nightmare on D’Olier Street

The ThingFor one week only, Scream Cinema is opening its doors to the most frightening films imaginable. Okay, that’s not strictly true. But they are playing some great classic horrors, starting with The Thing tonight at 8.30. Stan talked more about the resurrection of The Thing in his post yesterday. If you miss it tonight, you can catch it again on Saturday.

I’ll definitely be heading along to see Child’s Play on Saturday, but there’s plenty to choose from over the next few days, including a surprise screening on Friday night:

Wednesday 28th October

6.30pm - Ghost

8.30pm - The Lost Boys

Thursday 29th October

6.30pm - Night of the Living Dead

8.30pm - The Shining

Friday 30th October

6.30pm - Evil Dead II

8.30pm - Surprise Film

Saturday 31st October

6.30pm - Child’s Play

8.30pm - The Thing

Isn’t the Screen cinema on Townsend street/Hawkins street?

D’Olier Street’s old cinema is now a part of the GAS building which is the School of Nursing and Midwifery for TCD, my former faculty… It’s actually a rather nice art deco lecture room on the second floor.

OOh I’ve never seen all of The Shining - Thursday you say…

Once again I say “here here” to screening old movies!

Hugo, as a cinema building anorak you’re technically correct. That hasn’t stopped them from calling it the Screen at D’Olier Street since it used to be the Metropole as far as I remember…

I finally get to see The Shining!! Yay!
