If you need an excuse to slip into 40’s and 50’s dress, cabaret costumes and risqué frocks, then look no further than the Dublin Burlesque Ball’s end of year show ‘A Prelude to Christmas’. In honour of the 120th anniversary of Moulin Rouge, the Dublin Burlesque Ball’s ‘A Prelude to Christmas’ show will take place on Saturday November 21st at the Art Gallery in the Morrisson Hotel, Dublin. Promising an extravagant, indulgent and elaborate show, the night will feature host of starlets from the international burlesque scene, including:

As the winter begins to set in, Culch.ie is slowing down. We’re being thoughtful, bracing ourselves for the harsh times ahead. Or something… It’s been a quieter than normal week on Culch.ie, but there’s still been plenty of activity to keep readers happy. I’ve even been philosophical about it, asking what you suggest we do over the coming months. Events The Temple Bar Chocolate Festival is on this weekend. Really worth checking out. Music in Ireland on the calendar for November Kevin Doherty at Whelan‘s in Dublin @ 8pm (€12). Kevin, a singer/songwriter originally from Buncrana co. Donegal and a member of Four Men and a Dog, has a forthcoming album titled ‘Telegraph’. Tickets are available via http://www.telegraph.ie/ and you can have a listen to his music at http://www.myspace.com/kevindohertysongs. November 4th Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill at Whelan’s @ 7:30pm. Martin, fiddler from Feakle co. Clare, and Dennis, guitarist from Chicago have been touring together for many years. I know Martin from his tour stops in Boston.
