Friday 13th: Time To Get Scared

Want Something Scary To Do Tonight? Time To Hit The Cinema

As one of the scariest movies to hit cinemas in recent years, if you haven’t heard of Paranormal Activity, you’ve probably been living under a rock. Taking its cue from The Blair Witch Project and other such movies with a first-person viewpoint and handheld camera, Paranormal Activity isn’t quite that simple to describe. The film’s been knocking around since 2007, but has now been edited with new scenes for general cinematic release and was also the surprise film at this year’s Horrorthon in the IFI. It tells the story of Micah and Katie (Micah Sloat and Kate Featherston) and their attempts to record the strange…well, paranormal activity in their house.

Strictly speaking, Paranormal Activity doesn’t open for another two weeks, but there are special preview screenings on tonight: Friday 13th hasn’t been this scary since that time we were stalked by the hockey-mask-wearing-maniac. Check the trailer below, and if you can handle some spoilers, there’s even a review here.

I’ve seen it, and enjoyed it for what it was. I’ll say no more until the release date.

Just finished watching this now. I think I had built it up so much in the head that I was expecting to be scared sh1tless.

It was very creepy but not as bed as I had imagined. Having said that I watched most of it with my t-shirt pulled up under my eyes.

There are a few bits in that trailer however that weren’t in the film itself. I hate it when they do that.
