Happy Christmas everyone!!!

Happy Christmas to all our Culch.ie readers. As part of our recent award as Connector.ie Tribe of the Year, we were presented with Sony Ericsson W595 Ed Hardy Editionthis lovely Sony Ericsson W595, with a ‘Tattoo’ design by Ed Hardy. To celebrate our award and to thank everyone who supported Culch.ie over the last 9 months, we are offering the phone up for competition.

The Sony Ericsson W595 is an attractive slide phone with the excellent Walkman 3.0 music player. The phone comes with FM radio, a 3.2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, 3G with HSDPA, and “shake control” which lets you choose a tune at the flick of a wrist and the ‘SensMe’ feature means you can create playlist according to your mood, apparently.

The exclusive Sony Ericsson W595 Ed Hardy edition is inspired by the work of acclaimed tattoo artist Ed Hardy and the fashion range from Christian Audigier.

Sony Ericsson W595 Ed Hardy EditionTo be in with a chance to win this phone, just leave a comment below telling us your favourite thing about 2009. Tell us your favourite movie or the best album you heard. Let us know if Obama’s Presidency truly touched you or if you were more impressed by Berlusconi’s new bruise. Did X-Factor set you alight or were you more rivetted by Tiger’s dalliances. Maybe you have some good personal news from 2009. Just let us know one great thing about 2009 and on Christmas Eve, I’ll pick a winner.

This competition is open to everyone (except me). All Culch.ie readers, commenters and writers are welcome to enter, as the winner will be randomly selected. Please spread the word and don’t forget you can follow Culch.ie on Twitter and Facebook too.

Good luck and Happy Christmas!!!

Katie Price eating bugs and crap made my year! Sadly, like Swine Flu she will never go away!

  4. Christian says:

Toughy for sure but I’d have to say the best things for me in 2009 were the people I met, the new friends I made. 2009 was all about the people for me, for sure.

Having said that I also discovered Bon Iver, Manchester Orchestra, Lynzie Kent, Paramore, Anna Scouten and The National. All amazing artists - I recommend giving them a listen :)

  5. Bngr says:

Inglorious Basterds was my favourite film, I’m a music ignoramous so no album to declare.

U2 in Croker was definitely a highlight.

  6. ron dub says:

My favourite moment was Leinster beating the bejasus out of Munster in the Heineken Cup at Croke Park in May
    - oh , by the way they also went on to win in the final - Ladyboys 1 Culchies 0

  7. Julie says:

Has to be the Take That gig in Croker - the lads were fantastic and put on an amazing show!

The Script were support and were just overawed to be there - very humbling…

  8. Maxi Cane says:

The best thing by far is that Ed Hardy and Sony Ericsson have come together to make a phone. I mean about time.

The other good thing were sentences that read as being sarcastic but were actually genuine.

  9. Christine says:

One of my favourite things for 20009 was when my daughter & her friends won 2 awards for touch film festival,we went to the shellborne hotel,& had a lovely night.& the 2nd favourite was seeing Elton John live in Thomond park in june.

  10. eoinS says:

The Irish football team redeeming themselves. NIN, Nick Cave & the Bad seeds at Oxegen. Where The Wild Things Are. Fulham beating Man Utd 3-0 today!

Pretty poor year for albums though.

  11. voodoo says:

    That phone is insanely tacky.

  12. Ian Healy says:

    Paul McCartney coming to Ireland!

  13. Karl says:

the best thing about 09 was the festivals with electric picnic topping that list! the boss playing in the lashings of rain at the RDS a close second!!

  14. M says:

Snow in December and a possible white Christmas!

  15. I t has to be the announcement of a new Pixies album, or Obama calling Kanye West a jackass, that was awesome :)

  16. Niall says:

Best thing of 2009: Ireland winning the Grand Slam. Absolutely nothing else counts.

  17. Dermot says:

The best moment of 2009 for me personally was (and still is) forming my band.

Even if we don’t “make it” in the music world as they say, I will forever remember 2009 as a year of so many great laughs and new bonds shared with the people I love most

  18. Jamie says:

    2009 favourites:

    Zombieland
    second season of True Blood
    TEAM KANYE WEST

and I was able to travel to 2 Asian countries

  19. Jack says:

Best film was Inglorious Basterds. Loved the way it re-wrote history.

Bands I discovered include Grizzly Bear, The National, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (amazing) and Animal Collective.

Must admit Obama’s presidency was a huge anti-climax.

Best moments include Ireland winning the Grand slam and me discovering Culch.ie. ;)

  20. Modestas says:

One of my most memorable things from 2009 would be from sports. I still remember when beach ball(Darren Bent?) scored the winning goal against Liverpool.

  21. brianmc says:

The Grand Slam clenching Welsh match… what a game! What a day, what a victory - those final few moments - O’Gara’s drop goal, Jones’ missed penalty - was there ever a match more like a rollercoaster?

Also, Leonard Cohen returning for an amazing set of gigs.

  22. Marion Bruton says:

My favourite thing about 2009 is that I lost two and a half stone and I’m absolutely soooooo proud of myself. This cool phone would just complete the new me.

The best thing about 2009? For me it is the same as most years - the people I know and the new people I meet. The friendships I have and the new ones I made. The complete awe I am in for how many talented people I know.
Oh and quite honestly - one of my online highlights is Culch. Is a firm staple now of my online life and my respcts to all involved - posters and commentators

  24. Bluebelle says:

Id have to say that in 2009 the best thing that happened was the Llamas running riot in dublin only then to be kidnapped from meath cause the owner of the Llamas didnt wast to pay the 5000 euro release fee………priceless :)

  25. emmett says:

My favourite thing about 2009 was supporting the Irish football team in their world cup campaign. They went further than people said they could, they played their hearts out, and when they were cheated out of the world cup, they handled it with class. They deserve to be going to the world cup, and even though they’re not - we should all be really proud of them.

  26. tcup says:

hey so my favourite thing about 2009, was acdc in the o2 and thunderstuck. i was that excited a little bit of wee came out!

  27. Paul says:

Chic at Electric Picnic ’09, of which frontman Nile Rodgers described on Twitter as “life-changing”, and also Rage Against the Machine deciding to donate all proceeds from the Christmas no.1 to charity, as mogul Simon Cowell belligerently tried to pull in the pounds into his own account.

    Also Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix!

  28. Sinead Keogh says:

As the winner is randomly selected, I could probably just pick any random thing as my favourite of 2009, but I’ll be an honest sap and admit that my favourite thing of 2009 was going home more regularly than in any of the five years since I moved away for college and getting to see my family as friends instead of people I’m stuck with. /sap.

  29. Efa says:

Personally getting better was the best thing ever!! U2 and Bruce were amazing! EP was so much fun! The comedians soccer match in Kilkenny was hilarious and it was such a beautiful day! Building houses in Africa was life changing. It was a good year!!

  30. brianmc says:

  31. Alan says:

The best thing had to be discovering culch.ie :)

  32. Louise says:

the best thing about 2009 was that AC/DC returned to Irish shores

  33. Will Knott says:

I’ll be selfish and say that my favorite part of 2009 was being asked to write for Culch.ie, least favorite, change in circumstances which mean I barely get time to write on my own blog let alone here.

Maybe the best part of 2009 is hoping that 2010 will be a whole heap better.

  34. Aine says:

For me, it has to be the Grand Slam

  35. ahickey says:

What I loved about 2009 was the concern and good will shown by people to the victims of the floods down in Cork and other parts of the country.

  43. Ricky says:

I see most people have commented on fave movies. Might be a bit sappy but I started seeing a girl this time last year and ultimately broke up two weeks ago as the two of us were at different places. Anyway less of that crap. I guess my favourite moments were sharing nearly all the moments of 2009 with someone I’m sure will always have a place my heart. Highlights I shared and I must add:

The wrestler film of the year.
    Russell Brand in o2.
Leinster winning H cup and the Irish winning the grand slam.

    Thanks,

  44. carol says:

Best moment is Christmas Eve 2009 I hope because
if I got the Sony Ericsson 595 I would be thrilled to bits and on my dresser resplendent it would sit.

  45. Bngr says:

@Paul Chic at EP were the business, are you going to see them in Tripod in the new year? Cant remember if its April or May. I didn’t know Nigel Rogers said that but I’m not surprised, when they did Let’s Dance it was just a piece of magic.

@brianmca I second that vote on Dublin Bikes.

  46. brianmc says:

@Bngr - I was wondering how you knew an ‘a’ came after my brianmc, until I saw your name. :)

  47. Darren Byrne says:
