Debt-ridden EMI owners are allegedly listing the legendary Abbey Road Studios for sale. The near 79-year-old iconic recording studios in London were home to illustrious bands The Beatles and Pink Floyd when they were recording their most esteemed work. TheMirror.co.uk have an interesting “10 Things” list about the studios.

The Strokes are filming a series of behind-the-scenes look at recording their fourth LP. Part #1 is below. It’s pretty funny in parts. Definitely worth the 9 minutes if you’re a Strokes fan and you want to see what goes on when a band tries to record. Oh, and you will hear the start of a new song titled ‘Taken For A Fool’. Kinda cool. Video is below.

Alternative/indie-rock band We Are Scientists are set to release album #3. To kick off, the duo have announced a special date at Hoxton Bar & Grill in London on February 23. Unfortunately for us, it sold out in 3 minutes and 25 seconds. It’s the bands first show in London since December 2008, and will see them recruit Andy Burrows (formerly of Razorlight) to, quote - “punch the s**t out of the drums with closed fists”. The good news is the album, ‘Barbara’ should be released in June with the first single ‘Rules‘ out on April 5. Personally, I thought the last album was edging near the dreaded “over-produced” line. However, I think that’s acceptable. The sophomore album for any band is always bound to be a bit dodgy. I hope this time around, they go with a sensible, maybe minimalistic production.

In some sad news, Doug Fieger, singer for The Knack, has lost his battle to cancer last Sunday at the age of 57. The Knack were best know for writing the classic 1979 hit `My Sharona`. The condition that affected his brain had gone into remission in 2006 but reappeared in 2008. RIP.

The ever-so-popular Jamie T is set to release the single ‘Emily’s Heart‘ on March 15th. This new version of ‘Emily’s Heart’ is exclusive to the single release and is a reworking of the original album version. Buy it on iTunes and you get Jamie’s unique take on Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Atlantic City’ too. Pretty cool. I can admit I wouldn’t be the first man to praise Jamie T and his work but ‘Emily’s Heart‘ is quite appealing and enjoyable to listen to. Official video is below.

One of rock’s greatest guitarists, Jeff Beck, is back. World tour and new album with him. The new album, Emotion & Commotion will feature “original instrumentals and compositions, rock and soul collaborations with Joss Stone and Imelda May and tracks with a 64 piece orchestra” Hell yes. Beck will unite with former Yardbird, Eric Clapton, in February for a series of exclusive shows before an individual world tour in London, New York City, Toronto and Montreal. Hell Yes X2.
