Rage Against The Machine have announced they will play The 02 this June. The alternative rock band have confirmed a June 8th gig in Dublin, 2 days after their “X Factor victory gig” in London’s Finsbury Park on June 6th. It’s the band’s first Irish gig since their set at Oxegen 08. Sure to be exciting. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.ie from 9am (GMT) on Friday (February 19) and priced between €65.70 – €70.70. Reformed grunge legends Soundgarden will be back touring soon, but not until at least 2011. There’s been a flurry of reports lately that they were returning over here sometime very soon but those rumours have been put to rest by Andy Copping, the booker behind the Download Festival. He tweeted “When will anyone announce Soundgarden? They’re not coming until 2011″. It may not be immediately but still, there’s light at the end of the tunnel!
And while it’s not exactly music news, it has been announced that Jimi Hendrix: ‘Rock Band’ will be released later on this year. The late guitar legend’s stepsister Janie has said she signed a contract with Sony Music last year, with the company vowing to make the music of Hendrix “available through every type of media”. Pretty awesome if you ask me
