*** Competiton Closed - Congratulations Elly ***
Plagued by psychological and philosophical dilemmas, Hamlet vows to avenge the death of his father by murdering his uncle - his mother’s new husband. Treachery on every side, his paranoia ends up driving the love of his life mad. His friends can’t be trusted, his family less so. Hamlet is, for me, Shakespeare’s greatest triumph. The glorious tragedy opens in The Helix tonight and I am excitedly looking forward to seeing Second Age Theatre Company’s interpretation. And you can too!!!
This above all — to thine own self be true;
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Marty Rea stars as Hamlet, with some of Ireland’s finest actors in the supporting roles that include, Stephen Brennan as Polonius, and Maeve Fitzgerald as Ophelia and Barbara Brennan as Gertrude. All of these are in the very capable hands of Alan Stanford. The play runs from now until 19th March and for times and tickets, check out the Helix’s website.
If you would like a pair of tickets to Hamlet in the Helix this Friday evening at 8pm, leave a comment below. The winner will be selected on Thursday afternoon, giving you plenty of time to brush up on your To be’s or not to be’s.
Oh, and on a personal note: Frailty, thy name is woman!
I’ll let you know tomorrow what I thought of the play.
I’m very jealous of you heading off to see it, so I’d better enter the competition and hope I win!
Oh pick me pick me let me win
Will you also provide the date that I would have to bring?
I’ve never been to this venue before, and would love to take in some Shakespeare!
