With just over a week until the new series of Doctor Who, I have been looking back over the past few years and I have picked out my favourite moment. There’s so many to choose from, but this is just fantastic:
With this as a close second:
Oh, that’s right, Barcelona!
The new series and new Doctor return to BBC One on Saturday 3rd April. Come on, what are your favourite moments?
Despite the fact that it appeared in an otherwise pretty forgettable finale, the moment when Bernard Cribbens knocked four times on the glass was a stroke of genius by the storytellers.
The sequence of fates for the Family of Blood. That’s when I got hooked on Who again. Previous to that it was passable entertainment.
That is a toughie…will get back to you
Oh now tough question there. The bit where rose went into t’other universe and they were on the same side of the wall but diff worlds that was brill cried like a girl which is fine cos i am one.
The Sally Sparrow episode (carey mulligan eh) was brill.
The bit when donna and the doctor met up again looking at eachother through the door and window was so funny. Especially as the baddies (ie raquel in corrie) were looking at them. Also when she finally went on board the tardis. The script there was very funny.
Doctor; i want a mate
Donna; you want to mate?? not with me sunshine!
Brill
Oooh…lots and lots let’s see…
When the Doctor gets possessed by Lady Cassandra, that was hilarious him being all girly-evil.
I’m with TCup on the bit where Donna spots him through the window, that cracked me up.
And when he was on the beach with Rose and about to tell her he loved her and got cut off after “Rose Tyler..” I think I actually shouted “NOOOOOOOOOO!” at the tv and cursed the house of Russell T Davies a bit after that.
Far, FAR too many to mention, but some of my top DW moments would be:
When David Tennant’s Doctor has been fatally wounded in ‘The Stolen Earth’ and begins to regenerate at the finale…tension city! lol
The moment in ‘The Sound of Drums’ episode when you realise (and the character himself realises) that Professer Yana (played brillantly by Derek Jacobi) is actually the Master. Sent chills down my spine (as a long-term DW fan, and not just of the revamped series).
‘Blink’ - when the weeping angels are closing in on Sally Sparrow and Larry Nightingale (lol) very scary and possibly the greatest episode of DW ever.
The Daleks and Cybermen finally coming face-to-face in ‘Doomsday’.
When Sarah Jane Smith realises that she’s facing the Doctor again in ‘School Reunion’ - a nice little moment.
Like i said, far too many! lol
The ones that spring immediately to mind are
watching the Doctor video saying “and don’t blink” and the two turning round to look at the stone angels. (I’m a bit reluctant to have these monsters return. Is it just me?)
and
When That character whose name I’ve forgotten played by Zoe Wannamaker transfers herself inside the doctor and then inside Rose.
And of course, Rose and the Doctor bith leaning on the wall when they’re separated. Blub
Here Come the Drums, Here Come The Drums!
Doctor: “Here’s what I am going to do: I am going to rescue Rose Tyler from the middle of the Dalek fleet, then I’m going to save the Earth and then, just to finish up, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky.”
Dalek: “But you have no weapons… no defenses… no plaaaan!”
Nine: “And doesn’t that scare you to death? Rose?”
Rose: “Yes Doctor?”
Doctor: “I’m coming to get you.”
Just a brilliant end to a fantastic character arc. I don’t think that Davies was able to put Ten through an arc as carefully structured as Nine and - despite the fact it contains some of the show’s weaker episodes - I still adore that run. Only the fourth season comes close.
First season, first episode:
The Doctor: I’m the Doctor, by the way, what’s your name?
Rose Tyler: Rose.
The Doctor: Nice to meet you, Rose, - run for yer life!
