We Are the Champions, My Friends

I can’t express how delighted I am. We have won the Best Pop Culture Category of this year’s Irish Blog Awards. An exciting night was had by all who attended the awards in Galway’s Radisson, it seems. Check out the Twitter hastag #IBA10 for more details. :)

Well done to all the winners on the night, and I would like to thank all of the writers who have made Culch.ie such a fun and random site to be part of. Over the last year, we have received some great support from other bloggers and sites, from PR companies and most of all from our readers, who are the reason who have become so popular. Thank you all!

I couldn’t make it to the awards myself, so I’ll let some of the Culch.ie attendees wax lyrical about the chaos that ensued in their own posts, but I have seen a picture of the trophy. Maybury, we want it back!!!

I also want to thank Ronan for accepting the award for us, Insure.ie for sponsoring the category and, of course, Damien Mulley for arranging one of the biggest and most fdun events of the year. Well done, Damien! See you in October for the Irish Web Awards.

For a full list of winners, please check out Awards.ie.

Great night, fabulously organised by Damien as always. Even better was Culch.ie walking away with Best Pop Culture Blog.

    Hit it Tina…Simply the Best…

  3. Ronan says:

Also. Farrah Fawcett, ftw. Did anyone get my reference? Anyone?

Sounded somewhere nearer crickets than laughter from the stage, :D

  4. Darren says:

I got it. And the less pop culture savvy better half got it too, so I think it landed. Good hussle and well deserved. Didn’t get a chance to congratulate you guys in person - you were quite difficult to find at the afters and I thought I saw ye at breakfast, but I didn’t want to randomly and awkwardly intrude.

Anyway, well deserved, lads. Keep it up.

  5. Maxi says:

Congratulations to all here, I haven’t done anything in ages, but to all who keep the site going, congratulations.

    Well deserved.

@Ronan What was your speech like? Did anyone video it?

@Darren (the m0vie blog) Don’t be afraid to randomly and awkwardly intrude on us - we do it to everyone else.

Thank you everyone for all the nice comments.

Delighted for ye; it’s so well deserved :D

  18. Stan says:

Congrats to all concerned! It’s a fine achievement, and I loved Ronan’s acceptance speech. I’m sorry I didn’t get to meet more of you on the night, though bngr’s chocolate muffin almost made up for that .

  19. Sinead Keogh says:

I just noticed that Maybury’s pic was in the other post before the IBA’s as well. Can I get a comment on whether or not David Maybury is now the official posterchild of culch.ie? I don’t remember voting for that…

  20. bngr says:

Stan - cheers for that. I can send you the recipe if you like.

  21. Stan says:

bngr: That’d be great, thanks. I’ll DM you my address.
