Remember how annoyed you were when your younger brother told everyone that he’d heard Mumford and Sons before you, and that it was actually him that turned you on to them? Well, by now he’s probably done the same to you with Stornoway. Honestly, try to keep up.
Stornoway - four immensely talented and, let’s face it, easy-on-the-eye lads in, er … trilbys - is a band enjoying some serious buzz at the moment. The lads were shortlisted for BBC’s Sound Of 2010, and with good reason; this is the kind of folk-pop that makes you feel clever and content. Here, have a listen to I Saw You Blink, the first single from their hawtly anticipated debut album, Beachcomber’s Windowsill (out May 21st)
The lads will be in the ‘hood this weekend, and there are still tickets available, so get your arses in gear and get over to Crawdaddy in Dublin on Friday 16th, The Roisin Dubh, in Galway on Saturday 17th, and The Savoy in Cork on Sunday 18th. As always, further info is available from the venues.
On top of that, the boys are also appearing live in Tower Records, Wicklow Street at 1pm on Sat 17th for Record Store Day. Very accommodating fellows altogether!
