It takes guts, determination, and a full tank of petrol to even get there … so why is Sherkin Island such a musical hotspot? We were lured to Sherkin by the promise of witnessing the Irish debut of Slow Club an indie-folk duo as sharp as they are sunny. A day trip to Ireland’s Eye

After the successful trip to the National War Memorial Gardens back in February, Peter Donegan’s garden group had a second outing last Sunday to Ireland’s Eye. The island is just a mile off the coast of Howth, spanning 53 acres, and is inhabited by a whole host of of birds including these very pretty puffins: Apart from the birds, the island holds the ruins of a Martello Tower (see above) and an 8th century church, as the island was formerly a monastic settlement.

Couch Potato – DVDs Out This Week

Rightio! Couch Potato is back like the proverbial bad penny (I know you’ve missed it), and is just as jam-packed full of shiny disc wonder as it’s always been. This glorious sunny weather just can’t last and when it inevitably ends it’s nice to know that there’s something good on TV that you can tune into, without resorting to Fair City.
