I can’t remember the last time I did one of these. Young Niall over on the excellent Scannain.com tagged me in a meme. I have to provide ten movie based pieces of trivia about me. Easy enough, methinks.
1. I’ll start off with a simple one. It’s no secret that my favourite movie of all time is Grosse Pointe Blank. I watch it time and time again and never get tired of it. The one liners, the incredible soundtrack and John Cusack at his best. In fact, I want to be Martin Blank.
2. I remember the day we first got a VCR player and we opened up our first account in the video shop. Our membership number was 161 and the first two movies I rented were Gremlins and The Neverending Story.
3. I have been collecting Empire movie magazine for almost 15 years, although everything prior to 2001 was thrown out. Grrr!!!
4. Though I’m a huge fan of all genres, I have a particular penchant for horror. And I love all the sub-genres - the slashers, the sci-fi, the psychological and supernatural, the torture porn, but, strangely, the horror movie I’ve watched more than any other is the light and fluffy Tremors.
5. I have never seen Apocalypse Now.
6. I adore Bette Davis. The Divine Feud, the story of her and Joan Crawford’s near-lifelong hatred of each other, is my favourite non-fiction book.
7. I love the Oscars. I know it’s steeped it stupid politics, I know the truly best films rarely win, I know it’s an overly decadent backslapping night for rich people…but I love every ounce of it. I stayed up all night to watch this year’s Oscars (on my own!!).
8. I love Disney films (as my Disney post proves).
9. I have cried at movies. My Girl, The Notebook, It’s a Wonderful Life and Finding Neverland made me cry. There may be others……There definitely are others.
10. I met Johnny Depp.
As this is a meme, it needs to be spread among the masses. So, I want to know more about Sean Earley’s movie history. I think Mr Foley might have a few tidbits to share. How about Miss Sharon? I wonder if Gaff and O’Brien would be up for it. And lastly, let me open it up to all the Culch.ie writers. Tell us a bit about you and movies.
As Darren has said my list is over on my blog.
@Darren: I really like your list. Big GPB fan myself, although according to my Top 500 list it’s at 164. Might have to move it up. Our (mine and Ronan’s) video rental account was 21. We were pretty much in there on the first day! No idea what we rented. I, like you collect, Empire and Total Film too. A shelf in my press collapsed under the weight of them.
Loved Gremlins. Still love Neverending Story.
Hate horror.
Never liked Empire much.
I too haven’t seen Apocalypse Now.
I’m also a big crier at movies, including one or two of those mentioned.
Enjoy Disney movies too.
Think I’ve dreamt about meeting Depp. Will hate you forever for that.
My first cinema experience was ET. Scared me shitless! I remember running out of Screen 1 in the Savoy to try and get away.
I once stood beside Colin Farrell in the queue for Abrakebabra. Very nice guy.
All I need now is 8 more! I’ll get back to it later!
Ohhh nice post.
OK here we go
1) I own over 500 DVDs. That in an of itself is not too bad. But I have them sorted by Genre and alphabetical. Again maybe not too bad. But then I have them all catalogued in a database which is kept up to date at least once a week….http://www.collectorz.com/movie/
2) Myself, by brother, my foster brother and my best mate watched Flash Gordon every single day for an entire summer. How cool were we
3) Myself, by brother, my foster brother and my best mate watched Mannequin every single day for an entire summer. How sad were we
4) My favourite ‘bad’ film is Killer Klowns from Outer Space
5) If I can’t sleep I will put on Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Rings and I will be asleep before Bree
6) I cry ay anything remotely emotional in any way whatsoever in any movie (or TV show, or ad)
7) There is no way I could choose my top ten favorite films. Its like choosing my favourite child
8 ) My mate Emlyn should be working in the movies - his talent is crazy and I have a load of his edited movie pictures on me facebook page. Also I starred in all 3 of his ‘Gimp’ movies which he really needs to get on to youtube
9) Bruce Campbell is a legend and I would watch anything and everything he is in.
10) I met Brad Pitt
Oooh this looks like fun. I’ve stuck my reply up on my blog. http://seanear1ey.wordpress.com

Mine is here… http://bit.ly/aBSraC
I only saw Finding Neverland for the first time a few months ago with Eoin. I sobbed. He did not. I like to think in any sort of poll about which of us would cry during a movie people would have gone the other way.
