Here is a newest trailer for The Last Airbender directed by M. Night Shyamalan which is due to be released in the US on July 2nd.
This film looks very interesting, the story and the special effects. This a departure from Shyamalan’s usual fare, being a fan of him and his films, I’d like to see him and the film succeed, hope he creates something special here.
I intially wasn’t interested in this at all (and i hated Shyalaman’s last few movies) but this looks like a good night’s entertainment! No more, no less
Yeah, Emlyn, his last couple of efforts were not up to snuff with his earlier work, guess the best ones had Willis in them, he and Osment were special in The Sixth Sense. The Village I really liked, the imagery, the music, the emotions. Guess I get wound up into his stories more than others.
Yeah i do like his mix of imagery and music, very filmic. I think he got stuck with the whole twist ending though. I do like ‘Signs’ the more i see it, think it’s quite scary at times. Though ‘Lady In The Water’ was a mess!
I’ve seen most of ‘Signs’ except the beginning, thought the baseball bat ending was a little strange. ‘Lady in the Water’ was out there, did like Giamatti in his part.
This is looking like a good adaption of the cartoon which I found was very enjoyable!
I have not seen the cartoon, Peter, did some reading on it online. Looks like an epic battle between the powers of the ancient versus the modern world.
Ah here.. Normally I’m ready to accept it when Hollywood inevitably exploits a popular series from books or elsewhere… But I really am annoyed about this. Was there no-one better than M Night Shyamalan? Really? Disappointing. His writing isn’t up to much but fairness his direction isn’t much better either. Hasn’t made a decent film since 1999. Hope this tanks tbh.
As usual, I am carrying that Shyamalan cross Whom would you have liked to see direct this film instead squigglezap ?
Hopefully would be the one word to sum up how I feel about this movie. Myself and my brats are big fan of the cartoon series and I reckon they will be more critical then I when we go see it. At least the changes to the initial casting seemed to bring it closer to the cartoon, if Night screws this one up it will be the final nail in the coffin as far as I am concerned,

I should probably hold back my scorn til I see it in fairness. Would have been nice to see someone like Guillermo Del Toro do it. He seems to have a nice balance between OTT effects and subtler fantasy films. Nevertheless, I’ll be definitely watching this one.
@Thaedydal If Night fails, could be so..
@squigglezap scorn is fine
The special effects in the trailer did not seem to be overdone, I think, which is good.
@squigglezap yes, Del Toro would have been interesting, cannot wait to see his take on The Hobbit.
