Fame: The Musical, Week 5

This week’s live show of RTÉ and Shinawil’s search for Nick and Serena was an impressive change of pace from the preceding weeks, though unfortunately, such team productions are only as strong as their weakest link, and a wonderful (if slightly misbroadcast) show was badly let down by the results show that followed. The results show suffered at the hands of numerous blunders by presenter Derek Mooney, who’s been around Montrose long enough to be getting the small stuff right, and the production team, but I’ll go into that later. For now it’s enough to say that ‘Starmaker’, the number which should have been a beautiful opportunity for the finalist going home to sing their heart out and say a farewell to their fans, fellow finalists and Fame: The Musical was cut short before its climax, due to the production’s timeslot on RTÉ having come to an end.
