Temple Bar Summer Sensational 8-11 July

There are a huge amount of things going on in Temple Bar this weekend for adults and for kids and all for free for the Temple Bar Summer Sensational.

There are film events, music events, workshops, exhibitions, theatre, storytelling, walking tours - all sorts!

The events started yesterday with various workshops, circus acts Cliffhanger! and Cirque de Legume and culminating in an outdoor screening of Jaws on Meeting House Square.

Today has as much if not more, to offer. Circus act, Lords of Strut are on Meeting House Square at 12.30pm and 2pm and are very funny guys. There will be some storytelling at ‘Humorous Tales and Legends’ with storytellers Jack Lynch and Nuala Hayes in Smock Alley Theatre. Singer Julie Feeney will perform live in Meeting House Square this evening from 7-9.30pm along with Tarab, a modal jazz-traditional European music ensemble. The gig is free though you do need to check with the box office if there are any tickets left.

Saturday promises more of the same, including a film preview of Toy Story 3 - I’m very excited about that one :) There are several music events on Saturday actually with a family disco - Rattle and Roll Club - in Smock Alley Theatre from 12pm-3pm, Magic of the Musicals in Chorus Café 1-2pm playing classic show tunes from all the best Broadway shows, Oxjam in Oxfam Books on Parliament Street is at 2pm. There are also some Sweet Shorts at La Dolce Vita, a collection of short films you can watch while you eat here from 7-8pm to round off the day. The Secret of Kells is the movie for Saturday night although at 10pm I think it might be suitable for the big kids only :)

Sunday brings us Summer Sunday on the Square - Meeting House Square will be covered in grass and transformed into an oasis for fun, picnic blankets and sunshine. As with the other days, there is a huge amount of music, street theatre, entertainment, storytelling and dance to choose from so choose carefully! If you fancy parking yourself in Meeting House Square for the day you will have Mr Balloonatic there to make balloon models, face painters, some Leprechaun Storytelling, Dublin Gospel Choir and more to entertain you without ever having to budge off your blanket :)

This is only a small taster of everything going on this weekend and to fit it all here I’d have to retype the entire pretty brochure - just pick one up in town this weekend or check the full programme here.

If you are interested in one particular type of entertainment, TempleBar.ie have helpfully divided the programme into the following cateogories:
