New artists announced for Arthur’s Day

New Arthur's Day artistsWe wrote about the return of Arthur’s Day for 2010 back in June but since then there’s been a lot happening in preperation for it. Tickets went on sale last month and promptly sold out across the 7 studio venues and 28 pubs in Dublin, Cork and Galway. Fear not though! Culch has learned that extra tickets for the studio venues will be going on sale tomorrow morning (24th August) on ticketmaster.ie Studio tickets and the outdoor Galway music event will cost €10 and the 28 pub venues will cost €5 with proceeds benefiting the Arthur Guinness Fund.

Along with announcing the additional tickets an additional 15 artists have been added to the lineup. They include: rock legends Manic Street Preachers, Irish fans favourite David Gray, Dublin singer-songwriter Cathy Davey and Oscar-winning actor turned musician Tim Robbins & The Rogues Gallery Band. The new additions to the line up also include some fresh new talent making waves including British hip hop rapper Ty, The Courteeners, Mercury Prize nominee Biffy Clyro and Bitches with Wolves.

A unique element to this year’s Arthur’s Day is Our Thursdays’ where bands across the country have been competing for the chance to play one of the big studio venues. From the shortlist of bands, Guinness will be running 4 Regional Showcases in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast on 26th August, to determine which lucky 24 bands will go through to the National Showcase in Belfast on 9th September. At the National Showcase, a panel of music industry judges will choose their final 3 winners to play as part of the Arthur’s Day line up, alongside the biggest acts. For a full list of acts and where they’ll be playing, see below:

  1. Thanks for this post Anto - hadn’t seen the latest lineup yet! Stoked that David Gray will be making an appearance too :-)

  2. EleventyFour says:

Just spotted this now, thanks for posting. Just to say that EleventyFour is playing at Bia Bar after winning the Our Thursdays competition. Bia Bar isn’t listed here or on the posters around town either, hmmm..
