*** Congratulations to Vinnie who has won the Carlton Hotels competition ***
Well, with week one of The Apprentice down, we’ve said a fond fair thee well to Cahal Heapes. Personally, I think it should have been Niamh Humphreys going home, but what do I know?
This week’s challenge for the contestants was set by Michael Carney, managing director of the Carlton Hotel Group. In this sales task they were charged with selling Carlton Hotel gifts cards. Team Fusion (consisting of the girls, led by Cahal Heapes) sold €870 worth, while Team Elev8 (the boys, led by Ciara McManus) sold €1,650 worth. A clear victory.
For all of Monday 20th September, Carlton Hotels were running a sale offering 50% off all B&B rates. But don’t worry - if you missed out on this opportunity, Culch.ie is here to save the day. With thanks to Carlton Hotel, we are marking the start of this year’s Apprentice with a competition to win 2 nights bed & breakfast for two adults sharing in any Carlton Hotel.
You can choose from any of Carlton’s ten Hotels across Ireland:
- Carlton Hotel Tralee, Co. Kerry
- Carlton Shearwater Hotel & C Spa, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway
- Carlton Redcastle Hotel & C Spa, Moville, Co. Donegal
- Carlton Millrace Hotel & C Spa, Bunclody, Co. Wexford
- Carlton Kinsale Hotel & C Spa, Co. Cork
- Carlton Hotel Galway City, Galway
- Carlton Dublin Airport Hotel, Co. Dublin
- Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel, Limerick
- Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel & C Spa, Westport, Co. Mayo
- Carlton Abbey Hotel & C Spa, Athy, Co. Kildare
To be in with a chance of winning this prize, let us know who you’ll be supporting in this year’s show. Which of the contestants looks like they have what it takes to be Bill Cullen’s next Apprentice? Or if none of them take your fancy, tell us which one you hate most and why.
Leave your comment and the winner will be selected after next week’s show (27th September).
I absolutely hated Cahal! So glad he is gone. He didnt direct the likes of Niamh right at all. On the other hand Ciara led the boys brilliantly, showing them that she wasn’t to be taken for a lessor just because she is a girl. Not liking Niamh or Tara either :/
Great show and good task. Love it so far
i think tara will win it
Cathal, Niamh and Tara all deserved to go together really. But what was Bills problem with boys trying to sell to his Renault garage? Is he and his customers too good for the Carlton?! I would have been pissed if I was Carlton CEO watching that (after sponsoring show) because Cullen owns ONE hotel in Ireland that does not make him a competitor to a huge chain with dozens of hotels across the country. Was very small minded from someone who is supposed to business leader.
Just goes to show (as always) that if you are team leader in first couple of weeks then you have 50/50 chance of going. Have to be brave to take it. Dont know enough about team until weeks later to really do a good job in leader role.
I am supporting Panagiotis Zametakis.
I like the cut of his jib.

I actually hate the Apprentice with a seething passion. Irish takes on American shows just highlight the lack of the massive budgets our communication companies have. Bill Cullen is no Donald Trump, and there will never be an Irish Joan River style contestant.
But I like hotels.

I’d never watched the Apprentice before until last night and i have to confess i’m already addicted!
It’s just so funny and entertaining to watch all the different personalities clash, the fighting, the stupidity of so called “educated experts” and of course the catty remarks. Personally i’d hate to go on a show like that, i’d be in tears after 10 mins - they must be made of steel! I didn’t think Cahal should have been fired - he had more potential but didn’t get a chance to show it off. Tara was such a madam - don’t like her at all, somebody needs to shut her up fast and put her back in her box - hope she goes soon. Niamh was spending the time blowing her trumpet and ended up begging for customers! I’ve my eye on Caroline the solicitor. Fair enough, she had nothing much to offer last night but she was stuck in the car with a bunch of eejits and she did suggest a change of tactic. I think she seems more pleasant and mature than some of the others and i’m looking forward to seeing what she has to offer. I’ve yet to make a decision on the lad…can’t wait to see what week 2 brings!! Am loving it
I think that Ciara is a good candidate for winning.I thought that she handled the boys very well and was quite calm throughout.I also liked the fact that she asked advice of one of the guys as to is selling technique.Just shows that she is confident.Yes Ciara to win
I think that Will did really well last night.
They even commented on his sales .And I liked the way when the team one that he was trying to calm the others down..just professional
I think Caroline will win!
I think Kieran will win the show
I would like Will to win because the longer he is on the show, the more I get to admire his rugged good looks! Also he did a great job selling in week one- he’s got my vote!
I think Sarah will win.
I like Caroline, she has a level of cop-on and common sendse rarely seen in Apprentice contestants.
Dave hopefully will get booted out soon, he’s already annoying me, along with Tara and Niamh H
Ciara for me, thought Cathal went too soon, didnt get a chance really
I hope Ciara win.
Tara deserves to be kicked out. Don’t like her.
I can’t stand the apprentice, but hopefully I’ll be considered for the draw.
I hope Kieran wins.
Bill Cullen will win…he always does!
I reckon Tara has a very good chance, as does Ciara. I think there will be a female winner this time round.
Cahal had heapes of talent, but he was never going to be a real contender….
I think we have 2 potentials Caroline and Ciara. Both seem self assured and confident. With out the need for the constant self advertisements,
However TBH once Evil Niamh does not win ill be a Happy Bunny
My money’s on Will I think. I too admired his selling skills during week one
